Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—learning secondary subjects versus focusing strictly on a main qualification—and presents a clear position supporting the study of diverse subjects. Ideas are extended with reasons and examples, such as mentioning music subjects and the development of soft skills. However, some arguments tend to overgeneralise or lack depth, such as the claim that poor grades will automatically lead to permanent unemployment. Overall, the task is well handled and meets the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing each perspective, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as "On the one hand," "On the other hand," and "In conclusion." However, referencing and transitions are at times mechanical or slightly awkward, such as "number of masses opine" and "many schoolers want to learn different subjects and then the academic gardes are felling." Paragraphing is used appropriately, resulting in a clear overall progression that fits the Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic essay, incorporating terms like "qualification," "practical skills," "detrimental," and "unemployment." However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as "cruical" instead of crucial, "number of masses opine," "musical subject" instead of music subject, and "academic gardes are felling" instead of grades are falling. These errors occasionally impede smooth reading, placing the lexical performance solidly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising conditional clauses (e.g., "if a person can choose the minor subject..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including subject-verb agreement issues ("student are showing", "student become a part"), incorrect prepositions, and tense inconsistencies. For example, "too much spend time are not suitable" contains multiple structural errors. While these errors do not entirely obscure meaning, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching Band 6.5.
