Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. Discuss both these views and give your opinion. Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a rising concern that in some universities students are interested to learn more than one subject including their major subject. While, some of folks believe that it is essential that student give their full time and attention for a qualification. In my opinion, student should have right to learn more than one subject according to their interest and it is more important than qualification.
Initiating with first argument of people, the first and foremost essential thing is that collective education is very significant in this age of globalisation. The students want to get higher education and practical experience in more than one field. Education and knowledge of more than one subject play a extremely crucial role in early success of every student. Now a days small fields of any major subject have large number of opportunities for young student as compare from main field. For that reason, mostly people want to get extra certification with their main subject study.
On the other hand, some people have opinion that they only focus particularly on a single subject and get classification in it. Consequently, The higher education of our universities teach us only about theoretical education and students have no experience in another field of education. Due to which student faced a lot of problems in their practical life because they does not have any option to change their career. On of the good illustration of that according to survey in universities those student who take part in different subjects apart from their major are likely to become more successful than those who stuck with one field of knowledge.
In conclusion, Both arguments have their own merits. However, on balance I firmly believe that student should take more than one subject as their main subject. The practical experience with their knowledge is also extremely important for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on studying multiple subjects versus focusing solely on a qualification, and clearly presents a personal opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on globalisation and career opportunities in major subjects is rather generalised and lacks specific elaboration or concrete examples to fully support the arguments. In the third paragraph, the attempt to illustrate the point with a survey reference is vague. The response fits the Band 6 descriptor well because it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, but some points remain underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs discussing different views, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Transition phrases like 'Initiating with first argument of people' are unnatural, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'some of folks' and 'they only focus'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs occasionally stumbles due to awkward transitions. Overall, the organizational framework warrants a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'globalisation', 'extremely crucial', and 'theoretical education'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text, such as 'some of folks' instead of 'some people', 'get classification' instead of 'qualify' or 'earn a qualification', and 'mostly people' instead of 'most people'. Spelling and word-formation errors, while present, do not impede communication, making this performance representative of Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional or concessive clauses ('While, some of folks believe that...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('student give', 'student faced', 'because they does not have'), articles ('in early success'), and prepositions. While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication because the intended meaning remains clear. This balance of a mixed structural range and persistent grammatical errors aligns with Band 6.
