Student answer (Band 5.0)
few university scholars want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects . Others thinks it is more crucial to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification . I discuss both views and give my opinion in upcoming paragraph.
To commence with, few childreno have high IQ and ~~a~~ a lot of interest in ~~the~~ literacy, therefore, they want to learn about other subjects with their main ones . It also ~~increase~~ increase the ~~thinking cating~~ ability of student and sharp their mind with new things, which is crucial for their upcoming life. moreover, ~~in future there are a studying~~ studying additional subject also create future opportunities like ~~more~~ more jobs with high pays, ~~and~~ although, lifestyle.
On the other hand, some students think
giving all efforts to their main subjects is better to study more subjects because it can affect some scholar's mental health, few people face difficulties to their study and also study their main subjects with lot of pressure, therefor, in this situation no one want to add more subjects in their study. Secondly it can also effect childrens grades, analysing multiple books can create some misunderstanding sometimes in exams.
In my opinion, students should only study their main subjects in which they have a lot of interest. learning about more subjects can create burden on scholars which can affect their future life and mentality.
To the conclusion, everything has their own pros and cons, therefore its depend on scholars how they manage it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether university students should study other subjects alongside their main courses or focus exclusively on their qualification, while also providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, falling into the Band 5 descriptor. While the student attempts to present arguments regarding career opportunities and mental health pressures, the reasoning remains underdeveloped and lacks fully elaborated supporting examples. The vocabulary and phrasing often generalise rather than explore the complexities of the issue. For instance, the argument regarding career prospects is stated simply as 'more jobs with high pays', without sufficient depth. Nevertheless, the prompt is acknowledged and engaged with throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays an attempt at paragraphing, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different perspectives, a personal opinion, and a concluding remark, reflecting Band 5 characteristics. However, overall progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and mechanical or faulty cohesive devices. For example, 'To commence with' and 'To the conclusion' are unnatural or inaccurate. Referencing is sometimes confusing, and the relationship between ideas within sentences lacks smooth logical flow. Additionally, the third body paragraph is overly fragmented, and the separation of ideas disrupts the overall coherence of the argument. Better control of basic cohesive ties and clearer signposting are needed to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task, aligning with a Band 5 score. The student uses a basic vocabulary range with frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'few university scholars' instead of 'some university students', 'thinking cating' instead of 'thinking capacity', 'high pays' instead of 'high pay', and 'effect' instead of 'affect'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'mental health' and 'opportunities', these terms are marred by inaccurate execution or awkward phrasing. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, though the core meaning can generally still be deduced from the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Grammatical control is weak, demonstrating a limited range of structures and frequent errors that often impede comprehension, typical of Band 4 to Band 5. The student makes numerous fundamental grammatical errors, including missing or incorrect articles ('few university scholars', 'a lot of interest in literacy'), subject-verb agreement issues ('It also increase', 'everything has their own pros and cons'), and run-on sentences with incorrect punctuation. Complex sentence structures are attempted, but they are frequently faulty and tangled, such as in the sentence beginning with 'To commence with, few childreno have...'. Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic comma usage throughout. The frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader.
