Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, its has become quite common that some students want to acquire knowledge about other subjects in addition to their course subjects. while some argue that learning their specialized modules would be more significant. I strongly believe that they should also learn other modules.

on the one hand, students who gain knowledge in their main area think they shoud get expertise in their field for successful career by fully focusing on their main subject. This is because, by studying their professional subjects their time cab be saved and they can fully concentrate on their mains. As a result they may be able to succeed in their career. For example, students in medical college who were studying medical lab sciences they worked solely in labs to get hands on it. As a result they got jobs in labs right after completing their studies

on the other hand, puplis who have focus on additional subjects to gain knowledge to help them in their field of requirement. This is because they have become essentail part of their field. As a result they can perform well in their peofession. A real life example in medical field and business there is almost computer based work to make like managing patients history and record which would not be possible without appropriate knowledge of computer. I also strongly beleive that studentd should focus on other subjects to be succcessful in their career. Despite of having full command on their subject lack of knowledge in other courses would not help them to succeed.

To conclude, Although it is benefical in several ways for students to mainly gain information about their course module, it is also believed that learning about other subjects would be more helpful for their successful career.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—focusing entirely on a main subject versus exploring additional subjects—and presents a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as medical students working in labs and the necessity of computer skills in modern professions. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive and under-developed, particularly regarding how additional subjects directly impact career success. The position is maintained throughout, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, though the body paragraphs lack clear separation and indentation. Cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'on the one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'As a result', but referencing is sometimes faulty, and punctuation errors around these markers disrupt smooth progression. Paragraphing is inadequate as the main body is merged into large, dense blocks of text rather than distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint. These issues place this aspect at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'specialized modules', 'expertise', and 'profession'. However, there are frequent spelling mistakes and word-choice errors, such as 'its' instead of 'it', 'shoud', 'cab', 'mains', 'puplis', 'essentail', 'peofession', 'beleive', 'studentd', and 'benefical'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they noticeably lower the precision and control of the lexical resource, aligning with a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and relative structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as missing capitalization ('on the one hand'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing like 'students in medical college who were studying medical lab sciences they worked solely'. Punctuation is also problematic with run-on sentences and comma splices. Because the frequency of errors is high and causes some difficulty for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
