Student answer (Band 5.0)

As the modernization is occuring most of the universties want that the student must study other subject accourding to his intrest in addition to his or her intrest. While, some people think that students have to give their full time to their main subjects for a better qualification. From my prospective both of the view are coorect.

To begin with the advantage of learning addition subject with the main subject, first and formost learning addition subject gives us the extra knowledge which is very useful for us like if a student is studing in class 12th medical so he or she have main three subjects which is biology, chemistry and physics but if the learn english with the main subjects it will them in future to improve communications skills aur to work abroad where english is complseory language.

On the other hand the advantages of focusing on the main subjects only it help to get the good marks in the academic year which help to achive a good quality education and which also help in finding job in the future like if we study a degree with good marks help us to get a better job opportunities that hep the person to succed in his or her life.

To conclude, having a extra subject with the main is very useful if a student have a great comand in the main subjects but if a student in unable to handle the main subjects properly the he or she may have to the main subjects first that give them better oppourtinity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—studying additional subjects versus focusing exclusively on a main qualification—and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are presented, such as gaining extra knowledge for communication skills and achieving higher marks for better job opportunities. However, these ideas are underdeveloped and supported mainly by sweeping generalisations and informal personal examples, such as 'class 12th medical'. Furthermore, the reasoning is somewhat repetitive, preventing the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of explanation requires further extension to achieve a Band 7.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, paragraphing and referencing are sometimes faulty, and transitions feel mechanical. There are also notable issues with sentence boundaries, run-on sentences, and missing punctuation which disrupt the logical flow. While the progression of ideas is generally understandable, the lack of sophisticated cohesive control and poor punctuation keep this criterion at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic concepts related to education and employment, such as 'modernization', 'qualification', and 'communication skills'. However, there is a limited range of vocabulary with frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'occuring' instead of occurring, 'universties', 'accourding', 'intrest', 'addition' instead of additional, 'studing', 'complseory', 'achive', 'hep', 'succed', 'extra' used repetitively, and 'comand'. These numerous errors and non-standard lexical forms cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and place the performance firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is very weak throughout the response. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'most of the universties want that the student must study', 'both of the view are coorect', and 'if a student in unable to handle the main subjects properly the he or she may have to the main subjects first'. Additionally, there is the use of 'aur' which is non-English. Punctuation is largely neglected, resulting in run-on sentences like 'like if a student is studing in class 12th medical so he or she have main three subjects...'. Frequent errors severely impact readability.
