Student answer (Band 5.0)
there are two groups of students one who want to study additional subjects along with the course subjects and the other group of student who only wants to pay attention to the subject relevent to the course outline that inlist the subjects that are specific and important for qualification and does not contain subjects of other domains .looking at the interest of first group who is intrested in learning some other subject shows there interest to explore other subjects and to gain knowledge . where as the second group who only wants to stick to the course subject may also have reason for this for example thay want goog GPA so thay might thought that focousing on the relevent subject help them to achieve good grades . in my opionion one should try to gain endless knowledge this will help in future also in this way you came to know about updated discovery and current researches . as im a physical therapy student in my course outline there are multiple subjects that include both the subjects related to medical fiels and the subjects like economics ,english ,sociology and other subjects in which we learn how to establish and maintain a bussiness .By studing english language subject i am able to improve my english language and because of this i can now easily communicate in english . there is a subject in my current semester that is human behaviours that helps me alot to deal with sick and old age peoples so this is important to focus on the subjects that are relavent to the course outline but it is also very important to learn other subject to enhance knowlwdge

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—studying additional subjects versus focusing exclusively on core qualifications—and presents a clear personal opinion. For example, the writer notes that the first group shows a desire 'to explore other subjects and to gain knowledge,' while the second group focuses on core subjects to achieve a 'goog GPA.' However, the ideas remain somewhat under-developed and lack extension. The personal example regarding physical therapy and subjects like 'economics, english, sociology' is relevant, but the overall elaboration tends to drift into general statements rather than fully analyzing the broader implications of both educational approaches. To reach a higher level, the response would need to develop each viewpoint with more fully explored arguments and a more rigorous structure.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The text suffers from significant organizational issues that hinder overall progression. The response is presented as a single, massive block of text without proper paragraph breaks, making it difficult for the reader to follow the transition between discussing the two views and introducing the personal opinion. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic connectors like 'where as' and 'for example,' and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'thay want goog GPA so thay might thought.' To improve, the writer must implement a conventional paragraph structure—separating the introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and the conclusion—and use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, but it is limited and marred by noticeable spelling and word-choice errors. Examples of these errors include 'relevent' instead of relevant, 'intrested' instead of interested, 'bussiness' instead of business, and 'knowlwdge' instead of knowledge. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'updated discovery' and 'current researches,' but these are used with some inaccuracy and unnatural collocation. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate more precision in word choice, and eliminate frequent spelling mistakes that distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical structure consists primarily of a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. The writing is characterized by run-on sentences and a lack of proper punctuation and capitalization, as seen in the opening sentence: 'there are two groups of students one who want to study additional subjects along with the course subjects and the other group of student who only wants to pay attention to the subject relevent...' Furthermore, there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the other group of student who only wants') and tense consistency. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty and require considerable effort from the reader to parse. Greater attention to punctuation, sentence boundaries, and basic grammatical rules is necessary for improvement.
