Student answer (Band 6.0)

A number of university scholars want to experience different courses along side their major course while some emphasizes to remain focused and determine to learn only one subject. We will discuss both scenerios what if student remain focused on only one subject or what if student explore other options as well in details.

Human being are curious and their interest keep changing as they move from one phase of life to other and they should keep exploring if someone study different subjects it will allow them to have exposure to different areas and eventually it will help them reach their true interest.I remember while doing my bachelors, we had a subject related to criminology and eventually i realized that my interest lies in criminal studies which redirect my further studies and thesis. This specific incident help me discover my true interest and it happen only because of expourse to other areas of studies.

As stated before, humans are curious individuals and their is no end to exposure and curiosity which can lead to moving without any direction and goal eventully resulting in nothing fruitful. For example if we keep exploring without a specific time it will result in nothing as a famous quote "Jack of all trades, but masters of none." Exploration without a direction will result in nothing and will only caused wastage of time.

When we keep both of these arguments in mind the results states that exploration to other subjects is good as it help to discover actual potential and interest but without a specific timeline or a goal this exploration itself can be harmful. A balanced situation is needed in which a clear goal is significant and knowledge of integrating one's interests with their major while exploration is integral.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—studying other subjects versus focusing exclusively on a qualification—and provides a clear opinion in the final paragraph. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the argument supporting exploration is illustrated well with a personal example about a criminology course during the author's bachelor's degree. Conversely, the counter-argument regarding lack of direction is somewhat repetitive and less fully extended, relying heavily on a general proverb rather than detailed explanation. To reach a higher level, all competing viewpoints need to be equally well-supported with fully elaborated examples and deeper analysis throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, distinct body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Ideas generally follow a logical sequence, moving from the introduction of the dual perspectives to the benefits of exploration, the risks of unfocused study, and finally the synthesis of both views. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'As stated before' and 'When we keep both of these arguments in mind', but referencing is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and paragraphing could be managed with greater precision. Progression is evident, but smoother transitions between sentences and clearer links between ideas would elevate the organizational structure to a more sophisticated level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main ideas. The writer attempts some less common lexical items, such as 'potential', 'criminology', and 'exploration', demonstrating a sufficient range for basic communication. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies that prevent a higher standing, such as 'along side' instead of 'alongside', 'emphasizes' instead of 'emphasize', 'scenerios' instead of 'scenarios', 'eventully' instead of 'eventually', and 'expourse' instead of 'exposure'. While these errors do not seriously impede overall comprehension, they highlight a need for greater precision in spelling and word form to achieve a higher lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. There are instances of effective complex clauses, such as 'Human being are curious and their interest keep changing as they move from one phase of life to other'. However, the text contains a number of grammatical errors regarding subject-verb agreement ('Human being are', 'their interest keep'), missing plural markers, run-on sentences with comma splices, and punctuation issues. Although these errors rarely impede communication entirely, their frequent presence across simple and complex patterns means the writing remains comfortably within the current evaluation bracket, requiring greater grammatical control and punctuation accuracy for further progress.
