Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Unquestionably, every coin has two sides and so are the people. Learners are divided into two groups and therefore, some university students are curious about there additional subjects to give time along with their main subjects for getting degree. In my opinion exploring other subjects have also the positive contribution in our score and career.
On one hand, Some learner wants to dedicate all there memorising time to main subjects which is more contributing in there career. For example students of software engineering give most of there time to solve the statice rather to read the real world and give solution that benefical to others, while ignoring learning of best practices, as a consequence all of there development will not be manage in the future.
On the other hand, student who held another view point say that giving time to additional subjects along with there main subjects also helped them alot. For example exploring big gaint companies like Netflix and Facebook how they managed and maintain million of users it has really positive impact on thinking out of the box. Furthermore it also gives you more opportunity to get hired rather than the specific carrer.
To conclude, I would like to say that giving time to additional subjects with the main subjects also help you to think out of cage but focusing only the main subjects it will keeps you in the boundray. However, it will depend upon the mindset of the students that which view they are in favour of.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views regarding whether university students should focus solely on their main subjects or also explore other topics, and a personal opinion is included. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on software engineering students focuses briefly on solving statistics rather than real-world issues, but this point is not fully explained or extended with a clear outcome. Similarly, the example of Netflix and Facebook is introduced to support exploring additional subjects, but the reasoning remains basic. To reach the next level, the writer needs to extend the supporting examples with deeper explanations and provide a more fully developed line of reasoning throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that addresses the introduction, the two contrasting views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal the progression of ideas, such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude.' However, referencing is sometimes unclear or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'there' instead of 'their' and mechanical transitions that occasionally disrupt the natural flow of ideas. Additionally, paragraphing is present, but the internal logical progression within the body paragraphs could be smoother. To improve, the writer should ensure that referencing pronouns are accurate and employ a wider, more natural variety of cohesive links to connect sentences seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a basic range of words related to education and career choices, such as 'university students,' 'main subjects,' and 'career.' However, there is a heavy reliance on basic vocabulary and noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the text. Examples include the misuse of 'there' instead of 'their,' 'statice' instead of 'statistics,' 'benefical' instead of 'beneficial,' and 'carrer' instead of 'career.' Furthermore, attempts to use less common lexical items, such as 'big gaint companies,' result in awkward collocations and spelling inaccuracies. To achieve a higher standard, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, use correct word forms consistently, and improve spelling accuracy to ensure ideas are communicated without strain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic compound forms. Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, articles, and agreement. For example, sentences such as 'exploring other subjects have also the positive contribution' contain agreement and article errors, while phrases like 'curious about there additional subjects to give time along with their main subjects for getting degree' lack necessary articles and prepositional control. Punctuation errors are also present. These frequent grammatical slips can cause occasional difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer should incorporate a greater variety of complex grammatical structures while improving accuracy in basic grammar patterns, verb forms, and articles.
