Student answer (Band 4.5)

In recent years, some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects, while other argue that it is more vital to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. This essay will discuss both views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why university students want to learn about other subjects. This is because pupils learn new things from other syllabus. First of all, learners want to increase their knowledge different things. however, some students go university library they read science books, research books. Some students read islamis books because they know about islam, there activities enhance pupils knowledge. For instance when learners learn various books they ans every question to field related person also students feel happy and relax . As a result, books develope the pupils creative and thinking skills. Hence, who students learn some things all time they are more genious students.

On the other hand, some students believe it is more crucial to give all their time and attention to studying who to choose for learn. Furthermore, when learners learn one subject own daily routine they too much bored. Besides, some pupils mently stressed to read one subject so they cannot pay proper attention own their study. For example, students learn same things they depressed so the took part another activities and read some other books therefore it is increase there mental skills.

In conclusion, although there are valid arguments on both sides. I believe that university students learn about other subjects because these things increase there knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response sits at this band because it responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the length requirement. Please note that a minimum of 250 words is required for this task, and the student's response contains only 222 words, with 44 words copied from the prompt left uncounted. Furthermore, the discussion of both views is very limited and lacks sufficient support. While the student attempts to present arguments for exploring other subjects and focusing solely on core qualifications, the ideas are under-developed, repetitive, and lack clear examples. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure the minimum word count is satisfied and fully develop each viewpoint with extended explanations and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The organization of the text reflects this band because information and ideas are not arranged in a thoroughly coherent manner. While paragraphing is attempted, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to weak logical links between sentences. Cohesive devices are often used inaccurately or repetitively, such as the abrupt transitions using words like 'however' in the middle of sentences or repetitive phrases like 'some students' and 'on the other hand'. Referencing is also unclear at times, making it hard to determine what pronouns or phrases refer to. To improve, the writer needs to ensure a smoother logical progression between ideas and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect paragraphs and sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, which is characteristic of this band level. The student relies heavily on simple words and phrases such as 'students', 'subjects', 'books', and 'learn' throughout the essay. There are also noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally strain the reader, such as 'develope', 'genious', 'mently', and 'there' instead of 'their'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are either inaccurate or inappropriate for an academic context. To progress, the student should expand their lexical range by incorporating more precise academic terms, learning correct word forms, and paying closer attention to spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and flawed complex sentence structures. Errors are frequent and often distort meaning, such as missing verbs ('some university students want to learn... while other argue'), incorrect preposition use ('go university library'), and faulty clause structures ('who students learn some things all time'). Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent throughout the text. To move up to a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic grammatical structures, improve subject-verb agreement, and reduce the frequency of errors that impede communication.
