Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that learning different subjects in addition while having a main subject in some university student want it but other people say that focusing and giving their time to their qualification subject is more important. In the forthcoming paragraph I will discuss both points because both context play a major role in our society.
Firstly, university students who wants to study more subject expect their main subject is a good decision but giving time to other subject can be a reason that most student cannot pay attention to their main subjects. Some students want more exposure that's why they want to learn other subjects. For example, I'm also a student and it is quiet difficult to study 2 different kind of subjects at a same time.
On the other hand, students believe that paying full attention and spending all of their time to studying for a qualification is better than learning other subjects with it. I agree with some relevant points but we should need to gain a little bit knowledge about other subjects because we need to explore more exposure and have to learn about different things as well but we also need to pay attention to our main subjects to get good grade. For example, I am also a student it is quite hard to focus on other subjects but we need to gain some knowledge about other subjects as well.
In conlusion, I will say that both play a vital role in our society and student must learn different kind of subjects but they should pay their full attention to their main subjects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views regarding whether university students should study additional subjects or focus solely on their main qualifications, and it includes a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the discussion on students wanting exposure to other subjects relies heavily on general statements like "Some students want more exposure that's why they want to learn other subjects" without offering deep elaboration or concrete societal examples. The writer's position is discernible, particularly in the conclusion, but the reasoning remains basic throughout the body paragraphs, preventing a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organization with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding sentence ("In conlusion, I will say..."). However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow is hindered by repetitive arguments, especially in the third paragraph where the author reiterates personal student experiences without advancing the discussion. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical or repetitive way, such as the frequent reliance on transitional phrases like "Firstly" and "On the other hand." Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs strengthening to guide the reader more smoothly through the arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring common words and phrases such as "university students," "main subject," and "society." There are notable lexical and spelling errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as "in conlusion" (conclusion) and "quiet difficult" (quite difficult). The writer attempts some less common phrasing like "forthcoming paragraph" and "exposure," but these are sometimes used inaccurately or inappropriately in context. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary and improve precision in word choice and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical structures present in the essay are quite limited, consisting of a mix of simple and relatively basic complex sentences. The writer makes frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with subject-verb agreement and clause structures, such as "university student want it" and "students who wants to study more subject expect their main subject is a good decision." Punctuation and article usage also show frequent inaccuracies throughout the text. To progress, the student needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence forms and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
