Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the two broad positions in the opening sentence and begin to explain why students might study related subjects, using biology, chemistry and physics as an example. However, the response does not discuss the view that students should devote all their time to their qualification, and it gives no clear opinion of your own. The example is relevant but only briefly explained, so the task is addressed minimally rather than developed across all its parts. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum, which leaves too little space to explain both views and support your position. To improve, discuss each view in a separate paragraph, state your opinion clearly, and develop each point with a specific explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic, and “On the one hand” signals the start of a supporting point. The biology example also follows the idea about learning related subjects. However, the response stops before presenting the contrasting view, and the ideas within the first body point are not fully connected or concluded. The final claim, “Every subjects are somehow connected,” is broad and does not clearly explain how it supports the argument. Use a clear paragraph for each view, followed by a conclusion, and connect examples to the point they illustrate with explicit explanation. This would create a more coherent progression rather than a short, incomplete sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “qualification,” “subjects,” “career” and “functioning,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is narrow and several choices or spellings reduce precision: “actual subjects” is unclear where you mean main subjects, while “relevent” and “knowlegde” are misspelled. “Deeply connect with their career” is also an awkward collocation; “build a stronger foundation for their future career” would express the idea more naturally. The repeated use of “subjects” limits variety. Aim to use accurate academic phrases such as “core discipline,” “broaden their knowledge” and “career prospects,” while checking spelling and choosing collocations that fit the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes a simple opening sentence and an attempt at a conditional example: “If a person is learning biology there must be chemistry and physics in it.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms, and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, control is inconsistent. In “Every siubjects are somehow connected,” the determiner and plural noun do not agree; write “All subjects are somehow connected.” The conditional sentence also needs clearer punctuation and a more suitable structure, for example, “If a student studies biology, chemistry and physics are often relevant too.” Capitalisation after the comma in “For example, If” is incorrect, and the response offers little evidence of a wider range of accurately controlled structures. Practise accurate complex sentences and proofread agreement and punctuation.
