Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some university pupils have desired to study additional subjects beside the main subjects, while other think that it is essential to devote whole time and concentartion to qualification studies. I believe that the students must learn other subjects along with acadmics one.

On the one hand, those who support the idea that more importance must be pay to main subjects believe this because of efficient performence and grades. This is due to fact that when students concentrate only on those subjects which have more weightage, are likely to have more time to understand complex concepts and accomplish assignments and projects. As a result, they will get excellent grades in the examinations. for example, the medical students who need all time and attention to undrestand complicated chemical reaction and atoms, should devote themselves in the qualification studies.

On the one hand, I believe that students who have desire to learn additional subjects give major reason of skill developement. They claim that when students study more subjects, it broaden their horisen and they can improve more skills which help them in better career opporunities. another reason given by them is wider range of knowledge. this is because if students learn more subjects, they may able to learn new thing about different cultures of the world which make them more informed and updated in life.

In conclusion, even though some students support that paying more time and attention to the main subjects is more valuable, I believe that the idea of additional learning seems more practical because it can bring prosperity for the students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your own position in the introduction and conclusion: you support learning additional subjects, while explaining that focusing on a qualification can help students achieve stronger grades. The medical-student example gives the first view some concrete support. However, the discussion is uneven: the argument for additional subjects includes broad claims about skills, career opportunities and cultural knowledge, but these are not illustrated with a specific example or explained in much depth. Your conclusion says this approach can bring “prosperity,” but does not clarify how it outweighs the benefits of specialisation. Develop the reasoning behind your opinion and support each main point with a relevant example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Ideas generally follow a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “On the one hand,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships. However, the second body paragraph also begins “On the one hand,” although it presents the contrasting view; this makes the progression less clear. Some links are mechanical, and the shift from career skills to knowledge of cultures would benefit from a clearer explanation of how the ideas connect. Use contrasting transitions such as “On the other hand,” and make references between sentences more precise to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to education, including “qualification,” “complex concepts,” “assignments,” “career opportunities,” and “wider range of knowledge.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable, as in “performence,” “horisen,” “developement,” and “give major reason of skill developement.” Phrases such as “more weightage” and “bring prosperity for the students” are also not natural in this context. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision. Check spelling carefully and learn common academic collocations, especially when describing benefits and outcomes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “when students concentrate only on those subjects … [they] are likely to have more time” and a relative clause in “subjects which have more weightage.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “other think” should be “others think,” “it broaden their horisen” needs a plural subject and verb agreement, and “they may able to learn” requires “may be able to learn.” The sentence beginning “when students concentrate” also needs a clear subject in its main clause. Review agreement and modal verb patterns, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
