Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that, some university individuals like to study other courses in addition with their compulsory subjects, while others think it is crucial to invest time and attention to study for qualification. This essay will discuss both statements before concluding that students should be encouraged to other courses also because it helps them in employment oppurtunities and think out of the box.

On the one hand, some university aluminies believes that they should devote all their attention and time to study main subjects because it helps them to better perform in their main subjects, manage better time and also save their extra semester fees. This means that by focussing more on learning main courses supports them to achieve good grades and comfortably move to next semester. For instance, nowadays mostly universities have strict policies that if student fail in one or two main courses in their current semester then they have to pay extra charges also to clear the courses in next semester and also students needs to manage credit hours, so this problem can be solved if they pay more attention while learning compulsory courses and clear the semester in first attempt and save extra semester cost.

On the other hand, some university individuals argue that they also want to learn other subjects because it enables them to secure employment and think differently. However, in these days employer not only interested to hire to those individuals who have good acadamic performance but they are looking for somone those have extra skills also and can have better ideas to solve complex problems. For example, companies wants to save cost to not hire more individuals they want to hire skilled individuals, this can be achieved if students also develop skills from outside courses rather than relying only on main courses.

In conclusion, while compulsory subjects support students to move to next semster easily by achieving good grades, save money and utilize time better, I believe that students should also other subjects beacause it opens door for them in future for employment oppurtunities and enhance their problem solving ability. Therefore, universities should encourage students to learn extra subjects also.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: students should take additional subjects because these can improve employment prospects and problem-solving. The discussion of focusing on core subjects is relevant, with the example of retaking courses and paying extra fees, while the second view is supported by employers’ interest in broader skills. This covers the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph focuses heavily on grades, time, and fees, while the benefits of broader study are explained more generally. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how an additional subject could complement a degree or provide a practical skill, and make the comparison between the two views more explicit before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed with the relevant arguments. However, some connections are mechanical, and several sentences carry too many linked points, particularly the long example about failing courses, fees, and credit hours. The conclusion also repeats several ideas from the first body paragraph before restating your position. Use clearer sentence boundaries and develop each paragraph around one main point, with more precise referencing between claims and examples, to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “compulsory subjects,” “employment opportunities,” “extra skills,” and “complex problems,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “think out of the box,” but several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “university individuals,” “invest time and attention to study,” and “hire to those individuals” make parts of the response less fluent. Spelling errors such as “oppurtunities,” “acadamic,” and “semster” are noticeable. Build a more reliable range of academic collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and allow your vocabulary to sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “some university aluminies believes” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “if student fail” and “students needs” also show agreement errors. The opening phrase “It is often argued that, some…” uses punctuation incorrectly, and “I believe that students should also other subjects” is missing a verb. Some long sentences combine several clauses without clear control, especially the example about course failures and fees. Practise checking each sentence for a complete verb structure, agreement, and punctuation.
