Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is argued by a section of university learners that students should also focus on subjects that are not related to their field, while others believe that all the attention of a student should be to study for a qualification. Although there are some benefits of studying additional subjects, I beleive the focus should be on subjects related to their field.
On the one hand, the cheif reason for this approach is to ameliorate their knowledge and to refresh their minds. Fistly, accessing information about these subjects will help them to change path in future in case of sudden job recession of a particular field. This approach opens the path of many field for them. In addition, learning same courses daily exausts their brain and it will assist them to refresh themselves and not to get bored. For instance, a student who is doing bachelor in chemistry will get bored by studying same subjects on daily bases and this strategy assures that they are not getting mentally exausted.
On the other hand, becoming an expert in that particular field requires a significant amount of time and attention. As in this modern and competitive world, the competition in every field is all time high. So, getting a good job requires consistant efforts and full attention towards the subjects related to degree. For example, majority of computer science learners who also spend a little proportion of their time on other subjects end up getting unemployed because of tough competition.
To conclude, there are a handful of benefits of learning additional subjects such as it will assist them to reset their minds and also improves their knowledge. However, getting expertise in selected field and atttaining job demands a significant amount of attention and focus.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a clear preference: the introduction says students should focus on subjects related to their field, and the conclusion restates this position. The discussion of additional subjects includes relevant benefits, such as broadening knowledge and providing a change from daily study. The argument for concentrating on a qualification is also clear, with competition and employment as reasons. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the claim that studying other subjects could help students change career after a recession needs a clearer link, and the example about computer science graduates becoming unemployed is broad and unsupported. More precise explanation and examples would make the response more fully developed and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes mechanical, particularly with “Firstly” and “In addition,” and some links between claims are not fully clear. For example, the move from learning other subjects to changing career after a recession needs an explicit explanation of how that knowledge would help. The example about chemistry students also repeats the point about becoming bored rather than extending it. Clearer links between each reason and its supporting example would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “qualification,” “competitive,” “expert,” and “significant amount of time and attention.” There are also attempts at less common or formal wording, such as “ameliorate” and “proportion,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural in context: “ameliorate their knowledge” would be better expressed as “broaden their knowledge,” while “a little proportion” is not a natural collocation. Spelling errors such as “beleive,” “cheif,” “exausts,” and “consistant” are noticeable, though the intended meaning remains clear. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully, rather than choosing formal words that do not fit the meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although there are some benefits…” and a conditional phrase beginning “in case of…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “all the attention of a student should be to study” has an awkward verb pattern; “learning same courses daily exhausts their brain” needs an article and clearer agreement; and “it will assist them to refresh themselves” shifts awkwardly between singular and plural reference. The sentence beginning “As in this modern and competitive world” is also incomplete as written. Practise complete clause structures, consistent pronoun reference, and accurate articles and verb forms to make your varied sentences more controlled.
