Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contenmporary world, the education is regarded as the crucial tool for shaping a person's mind.
Some students opine that they want to learn other subjects apart from their core subjects whereas others postulate that only the core subjects are important to qualify. So, in the forthcoming paragraphs I have discussed both the views and included my opinion at the end.
Firstly, the university students if they learn additional subjects they will be able to inculcate new skills in their life. In the university, the curiculum is designed in a way that only the core subjects are emphasized. But rather in this modern world, education should be of vast knowledge where students can gain extra understanding through various other subjects. To exempelify, the students if they learn about the physical education subject in their study, they will be able to understand new field of exercise and sports. They will learn about various exercise and sports rules like benefits of doing yoga, procedure of doing exercise and also rules of sports like cricket, football and many more.
Secondly, the students if they focus solely on the education of core subjects they would develop skills required in the employment. Often the university or the colleges advices the students to focus on their core subjects as they are beneficial for them. By learning only the core skills which are required for qualification, the students will develop a strong foundation over that subjects and also this will be helpful to them when requiring any employment in the same qualification.
In my opinion, the students should learn additional subjects in their university as they could open different opportunities for them. By qualifying different subjects, they will be able to learn and apply that skills in their job and life.
To conclude, both the views have their merits and demerits but getting additional knowledge through learning extra subjects will be helpful in students day to day life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: you explain that additional subjects can build skills and broaden opportunities, while focusing on core subjects can support employment. The examples about physical education, yoga and sports make the first view more concrete. However, the second view is less fully developed: the claim that core subjects help students gain employment is repeated, but there is little explanation of how specialist knowledge leads to particular career benefits. Your opinion is clear, though it would be stronger if supported with a specific example and linked more directly to the discussion. Develop each main point with a reason and an example to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion, and the central position is easy to identify. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and several sentences begin with similar patterns, such as “the students if they…” The conclusion also repeats the preference for additional subjects rather than drawing together the two arguments. Use more varied transitions and clearer references between ideas, and make each paragraph progress from its main claim to explanation and evidence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “core subjects,” “qualification,” “employment,” and “foundation,” and some less common choices such as “inculcate” and “postulate.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “the education” and “vast knowledge” do not fit naturally in context, while “qualify” is used where you mean gaining or completing a qualification. There are also spelling errors, including “contenmporary,” “curiculum,” and “exempelify.” These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they make the writing less fluent and controlled. Prioritise accurate collocations and check spelling; simpler, natural phrasing is more effective than ambitious vocabulary used imprecisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if they focus solely on the education of core subjects they would develop skills” and a relative clause in “skills which are required for qualification.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the university or the colleges advices” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “they will be able to learn and apply that skills” has a number-agreement error. The opening also uses an awkward article pattern in “the education is regarded.” Several long sentences would benefit from clearer clause structure and punctuation. Review agreement, articles, and plural forms, and aim to produce more consistently accurate complex sentences.
