Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years there has been debate about wether, few university students wish to seek knowledge about other books in addition to their important subjects. I completely agree that students ought to be gain information from additional topics such as they become more knwoledgeable person and it can led them to their bright future.

It is argued be that many individuals are against the opinion of adding new subjects in their courses as they think it might cost some disadvantages of distractions that can lead students to bad grades, because they are not able to focus on wide range of books and in result they get bored from their studies. For example, a student with an average brain cannot consume a large range of data as he is already struggling with their current topics.

I largely agree with that some significant subjects should be added in students courses because it can boost their brain to consume more information about new topics and it can led them to become more knowledge person. Another reason to support this idea that it can improve student's grades, also it can give a suitable path to acheive their desires with the help of data that he get from raeding different books. As a result, it gives them a bright career ahead with broad ideas, alson they are able to get a job in a high level company. For example, if university include some major subjects relating to their course, like adding AI subject along with computer science can provide significant results.

In conclusion, many individulas have different opinion about addition of subjects with main course in university but, I believe that consuming vast range of data can help them to achieve desireable goals along with great career.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear preference for studying additional subjects, and you give relevant reasons, including broader knowledge, career opportunities and the example of AI alongside computer science. You also explain the opposing view that extra subjects may distract students and affect grades. However, the discussion is uneven: the opposing argument is brief and relies on the broad claim that a student with an “average brain” cannot manage more information, while your supporting points repeat similar benefits rather than developing them with specific explanation. The task is therefore addressed only partially, despite a discernible position. To strengthen the response, explain when specialisation is valuable and develop a more concrete example showing how learning beyond a major benefits students.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, a paragraph supporting your position, and a conclusion. Examples and linking expressions such as “For example” and “As a result” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several points are connected mechanically with repeated “and” or “because.” The second body paragraph, for instance, moves from grades to personal goals, career prospects and employment without clearly explaining how each point follows from the previous one. Some references, such as “it” and “they,” also leave the reader unsure which idea or group is meant. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and a relevant example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “qualification,” “distractions,” “significant subjects,” and “career.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “other books” for other subjects, “consume a large range of data,” and “a high level company” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “knowledge,” “subjects,” and “bright” also limits precision. Spelling errors, including “wether,” “knwoledgeable,” “acheive,” and “raeding,” further affect clarity. Build a more reliable set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling; prioritise accurate combinations such as “broaden their knowledge” and “career prospects” over ambitious but unnatural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “if,” but the range is limited and complex structures are often faulty. Errors occur in verb forms and sentence construction: “students ought to be gain” should be “students ought to gain,” and “it can led them” should be “it can lead them.” Agreement and reference are also inconsistent, as in “a student … they are already struggling,” while “I largely agree with that some significant subjects should be added” is not correctly formed. Missing or misplaced articles and punctuation, including the comma before “but” in the conclusion, add to the problems. These frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate clause patterns and check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
