Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views: the first body paragraph discusses students pursuing sport alongside their studies, while the second explains why some prioritise a qualification and employment. Your final sentence gives an opinion in favour of offering extra subjects, but it is incomplete and does not explain why this is your view. The examples are relevant, yet the discussion is limited and several points—such as how extra subjects benefit students beyond sport—are not developed. The response also falls 7 words short of the 250-word minimum; the 9 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, develop each view with a clear explanation and a specific example, then state and support your position fully in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the first body paragraph, where the ideas about cricket, practice, leagues and the Olympics are joined without clear links. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” provide basic signposting, but some transitions are mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. The conclusion is also incomplete, which weakens the overall progression. Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main point, and link examples explicitly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “qualification,” “placement,” “achieve their dream,” and “academic subject,” so the reader can generally identify the intended discussion. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “university scholar,” “more benifits,” “get chace,” and “participant in olympic.” Repetition of “student,” “sport,” and “focus” also limits precision. Aim to learn common academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions such as “pursue a degree,” “career prospects,” and “participate in the Olympics” would help communicate your ideas more clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including examples introduced with “For example” and clauses beginning with “who.” However, control is weak: errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur frequently and sometimes obscure meaning. For instance, “Many university scholar interest” lacks correct plural and verb forms, while “A students who interest in sport” has problems with both the noun and clause structure. The final sentence, “In my opinion i agree with university provide extra subject,” is also grammatically incomplete. Build accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, plural nouns and complete sentence boundaries during revision.
