Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views: the first main paragraph explains why students may concentrate on their own subject, while the next gives a reason for studying other fields. Your opinion is also stated in “having some knowledge of every fields will be helpful.” However, the discussion is only partially developed. The examples about laboratories, equipment and industrial sites mostly repeat the idea that subjects have different practical requirements, and the benefit of broader study is asserted rather than illustrated with a specific example. The opening and conclusion also do not clearly summarise the two positions or explain your preference. Develop each view with a distinct reason and a relevant example, then state your position more directly and consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion and a conclusion. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “However” and “Therefore” help signal movement between points. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: several sentences repeat that subjects have their own equipment or fields, without adding a new step to the argument. “Overall” introduces a list of engineering subjects rather than an overview, and the final paragraph largely repeats earlier claims. Some references, such as “they” and “their,” are not always clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, explain it, and then give a specific example; use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “academic knowledge,” “practical skills,” “equipment,” “laboratory” and “industrial sites,” so the reader can identify the subject area. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “subject,” “fields” and “focus.” Some choices are imprecise or awkward, such as “utilize between their fields,” “panic in any projects” and “knowledge of every subject.” These expressions make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate—for example, distinguish between a degree subject, a discipline and a field of study. Check word forms and spelling as well, including “therefore” written as one word.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some complex sentences using “because,” “if” and “therefore,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors in basic sentence patterns occur frequently. Examples include “Many student believes,” “every subject have,” and “some instruments use in all fields,” where agreement or verb construction is faulty. Articles, plurals and prepositions also need attention, as in “in any projects” and “focus on their subject.” The opinion sentence, “In my opinion, that align in my views,” is difficult to follow because its clause structure is incomplete or unclear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and correctly formed supporting clauses.
