Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There has been an ongoing debate about whether university students should study additional subjects along with main subjects or devote all their time and attention to studying for their qualification. While, varities of subjects can enhance knowledge and improve future prospects of the pupils. I strongly believe that if educators maintaining a balance between core subjects and additional subjects is the most effective approach.
One the one hand, studying another subject along with main subjects serves several benefits. Initially, it enables pupils to receive or gain wide range of skills and knowledge which may be useful in their future careers. In today's competitive job market, businesses and comapines hire not only that person who have academic knowledge but they also wants practical and technological skills. For instance, a computer science students who learns artifical intelligence, machine learning, and automation may have better opportunity for employment as compared to that indiviudal who only have theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, this method also enhance the students vision that how to deal with critical situations and improve their creativity. Consequently, learning additional subjects beyond one main field may beneficial for their personal and perofessional life.
On the other hand, critics argue that students only concenrate on their core subjects to achieve academic excellence. University qualification requires a considerable dedication, regular practice, and an in-depth understanding of specialized concept. If any educator give too much time to unwanted subjects, they may struggle to complete assignment, prepare for examination, and become an expertise is their chosen field. As an illustration, a medical student who spends excessive amount of time on unrelated subjects might have insufficent time to mastery in medical field and to know about their practicals. As a result, prioritising the main subjects it may give positive output in their academics and encourage them to become a competent professional.
In conslusion, while both views have their own merits, I believe that maintaining equal curriculum between additional and main subjects provide advantageous result as it is more practical and beneficial in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: you support balancing additional learning with core study. The two body paragraphs present relevant reasons, including broader career skills and the risk that unrelated study could reduce time for specialist training. The computer-science and medical-student examples help make these points concrete. This meets the task well, and the position is clear, but the discussion is not equally developed throughout. In particular, the final preference for an “equal curriculum” is not fully explained, and the essay could clarify how students should balance subjects without compromising qualification requirements. Develop that recommendation and extend the examples to show more directly how they support your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, ideas generally move from a claim to an explanation and example. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. For example, “While, varieties of subjects…” is an incomplete contrast, while “Consequently” and “As a result” sometimes repeat the preceding point rather than develop it. The conclusion’s “equal curriculum” also does not clearly connect to the earlier idea of maintaining a balance. Use transitions more selectively and make the relationship between each claim, explanation, and example explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “competitive job market,” “academic excellence,” “in-depth understanding,” and “specialized concept.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, and attempts such as “practical and technological skills” show an effort to be specific. At times, however, word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are inaccurate, as in “improve the students vision,” “become an expertise,” and “positive output.” There are also misspellings such as “comapines,” “artifical,” and “concenrate.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships; for example, say “develop expertise” and “achieve positive results.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If any educator give too much time…” and relative clauses such as “who learns…” This gives the essay some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. Examples include “a computer science students who learns,” “businesses… they also wants,” and “maintaining equal curriculum… provide.” The opening “While…” clause is also left without a complete main clause. These errors are usually not serious enough to obscure your argument, but they make several sentences less controlled. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and ensure dependent clauses are attached to a complete sentence.
