Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some students of university suggest that it is more appropriate to learn about other subject irrespective of their main subject, while other argue that all studying for qualification is more crucial. This essay will discuss both perspective along with my personal opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
The primary reason that a person should learn about different subject is that it can increase and opportunity and enhance the chance of success. If a person possess knowledge of particular field as well as of other subject it is more likely for him to get a job. For instance, if there is vacancy in research department in chemical research center, the employers will tend to choose a person having knowledge in chemistry as well as in other subject as well such as computer and technology, which is used in every other sector. Hence the chance of success increase if a person learn about different subject apart from his field job. Another reason is that the chance of being scammed reduced dramatically. To elaborate, learning different subject increase the intelligence of an individual. As a result, if a person would have knowledge about every field, no one can make him fool or scam him in any sector. Furthermore it can also enhance problem solving ability, knowledge of all subjects can make a person wise. As a result, a person can bring the solution of any problem without being stressed and solve the problem with ease.
On the other hand, many people say that a person should focus on one subject rather than multiple subjects. Focusing on one subject prevent the students from other distractions that can otherwise affects the grades of students. As a result, in order to achieve good marks it become very essential for students to focus on subject with respective field.
In Conclusion, while it is very crucial to learn a subject with all focus and time to score good in examination, in my opinion learning different subjects is even more important as increase the wisdom of a person and privilege with numerous opportunity to thrive in their career and occupation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for learning beyond a main subject, so the response fulfils the task overall. The benefits you identify—broader employment prospects, problem-solving, and personal knowledge—are relevant, and the chemistry-and-technology example helps illustrate the career point. However, the argument for focusing on a qualification is much less developed: you mainly say that other subjects can distract students and lower grades, without explaining when depth of specialist study matters or giving an example. Some claims, such as knowing about every field preventing scams, are also broad and not convincingly supported. Develop the two positions more evenly and make the reasoning behind your opinion more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting wider study, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In Conclusion” make the overall direction easy to follow, and ideas within the first main paragraph generally build from career benefits to broader abilities. However, the first paragraph is crowded with several claims, while the opposing view receives only a brief explanation, so the development is not fully balanced. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, particularly the repeated “As a result” and “Furthermore.” The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than drawing the comparison together. Use clearer paragraph-level focus and vary links by showing the precise relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “qualification,” “research department,” “problem solving ability,” and “distractions.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “enhance the chance of success” and “thrive in their career.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “person,” “subject,” and “chance,” and several choices or collocations sound unnatural: “increase and opportunity,” “make him fool,” and “privilege with numerous opportunity.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, although the overall argument remains understandable. Aim for more precise academic expressions and check whether words naturally combine, rather than relying on broad or translated-sounding phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures (“if a person possess knowledge…”) and cause-and-effect clauses. This gives the essay some variety, and the main ideas can generally be followed. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms recur: “a person possess,” “the chance of success increase,” and “Focusing on one subject prevent” need subject–verb agreement; “learn about other subject” needs a plural or article. There are also incomplete or awkward constructions, such as “in my opinion learning different subjects is even more important as increase the wisdom.” These patterns limit accuracy and occasionally obscure relationships. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and revise long sentences for complete, well-formed clauses.
