Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state your opinion: the introduction supports learning art, music and money management, while the body paragraphs outline benefits of broader study and the focus on a qualification. However, the discussion is only partially developed. For example, the claim that soft skills create job opportunities is relevant, but it needs a specific explanation or example; the opposing view is also asserted rather than explored. Your conclusion briefly restates the contrast but does not clearly reaffirm your own position. The response contains 207 words, below the 250-word minimum; 30 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a reason and a concrete example, and make your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. These markers help readers identify the two perspectives. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are joined without clear relationships. For instance, the point about students performing better in non-technical or experimental sciences is not clearly connected to the argument for studying additional subjects. Some transitions and punctuation are also inconsistent, such as the run-on ending of the second body paragraph. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it; use linking phrases selectively and check sentence boundaries to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “qualification,” “soft skills,” “job market,” and “technical and scientific subjects.” This gives the response a basic range suited to the discussion. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “controvertional,” “pivtol,” “subjets,” and “indespensible.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “obtain a greater opportunities jobs” and “the main key to get their desired job.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, rather than relying on broad or repeated terms such as “subjects” and “important.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “however.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “some undergraduate want” has a number-agreement problem, while “these skills are the mostly required” has an incorrect grammatical construction. Missing sentence boundaries also affect clarity, as in “qualification.in addition” and the long sentence ending “desired job.” Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns, articles and plural nouns, and separate complete sentences with appropriate punctuation. Shorter, controlled sentences will help you express the ideas more clearly before you attempt longer structures.
