Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years some university folks want to focus to learn about other subject in addtion to their main module. It is widely believed that this issue has become increasingly significant in modern society. Some people believe that it is essential to focus to studying for a qualification. This eassy will discuss both opinions before giving my own view.

Some people believe that it is important for university students to read and learn about the extra subject, this will give them a knowledge about practical life and also boost information about other matters in the world. For instance, students who want to crack the CSS and other difficult exams need to focus on other subjects. They read books about history, politics, constituions which are very helpful in CSS exam in pakistan.

While other cliam that pupils only focus on their degree subject. This habit make them ready for their job and able to enter in the profession with many useful skills. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both positions and give a clear preference in the conclusion: you support learning subjects beyond a student’s main field. The examples about CSS preparation and gaining skills for employment are relevant to the topic. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The benefits of broader study are asserted rather than explained in detail, and the argument for concentrating on a qualification is mostly limited to achieving a high CGPA, studying abroad, and pursuing a career. The claim that other subjects can distract students is also introduced but not supported. To strengthen the response, explain how each benefit or drawback affects students and add a specific example for both views.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that states your opinion. Signposting such as “Some people believe,” “While other,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the move from extra subjects to CSS examinations is understandable but needs a fuller explanation, while the sentence about studying abroad does not clearly show how focusing on a degree leads to that outcome. The opening also repeats the idea of focusing on a qualification. Develop each paragraph around a clear main point and use linking phrases to show cause, contrast, or example more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “qualification,” “profession,” “CGPA,” and “job market,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “university folks,” “focus to learn,” “boost information,” and “mistrack many student”; these are not natural or clear expressions in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “addtion,” “eassy,” “cliam,” and “schlorship.” Build a more accurate academic vocabulary for discussing study choices, and check spelling and collocations carefully. Prefer precise phrases such as “broaden their knowledge” and “be distracted from their goals.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “students who want to crack the CSS” and a reason clause beginning “Due to focusing on degree.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “this will give them a knowledge” has an unnecessary article, “This habit make them ready” has subject–verb disagreement, and “both argues has its own importance” has errors in both the noun form and agreement. The first sentence also joins two independent ideas with a comma. Practise forming accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and appropriate articles.
