Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different views about whether learning different courses with your core subject or it is essential to give full effort of their time and focus to studying for their qualification. While there are some drawbacks to learn new subject, I believe i will help people live a meaningful life.

There are number of reasons why learning new subject along with main subject is necessary. One possible reason is learning a new area of subject feels more exciting. By studying a new course they can gain knowledge about the study area. For an example a BBA student who study in field of accounting can also study Human Resource Management or (HRM) for his/her benefit for their future career. Another reason is that it will allow not only flexibility but also strengthen your brain in long run. Finally, people can eliminate their boredom from their main subject and it will also helps individual to cope up with anxiety.

Despite the above arguments, it cannot be denied that it is necessary to give all the effort to your main courses. Firstly, learning a new thing is very much time consuming, while it is also create extra pressure along with their other main courses. Secondly, taking a new course could be expensive for family with less financial fortune and will create extra pressure on their family.. Thus, instead of wasting time taking preparation for new subject, people can use this time for travelling or go to gym this will active your brain and enhance a person knowledge

In conclusion, although gaining knowledge form new subject is time expensive and costly with some disadvantages, I would argue that learning new courses is a rewarding experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for learning additional subjects, so the response meets the main requirements of the task. The examples of an accounting student studying Human Resource Management and of extra study creating time and financial pressure are relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that another subject “strengthen[s] your brain” and helps people cope with anxiety is not supported with a clear explanation or example. The opposing view is also less fully developed, and the suggestion to travel or go to the gym does not directly explain why concentrating on a qualification is more important. Develop each main reason with a specific consequence or example, and make the comparison between the views more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Another reason,” “Despite the above arguments,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress in a sensible order. This already gives the essay a coherent arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical, and the final sentence of the opposing-view paragraph combines several ideas—using time for travel or exercise, activating the brain, and enhancing knowledge—without showing their relationship clearly. References such as “it” and “their” are sometimes difficult to follow. Use linking phrases that express the precise relationship between ideas, and divide or clarify sentences when the focus shifts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss education and its consequences, including “qualification,” “flexibility,” “extra pressure,” and “financial.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “meaningful life” and “cope up with anxiety,” but some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “time expensive” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “less financial fortune” is unclear. Repetition of “new subject” and “main subject” also limits flexibility. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make parts of it less precise. Build a bank of natural academic collocations and check whether each phrase fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “While” and the paired structure “not only … but also.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “There are number of reasons” needs an article, while “it will also helps” has an incorrect verb form. In “a BBA student who study,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and the final sentence of the second body paragraph runs several clauses together without clear punctuation. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use full stops or conjunctions to control longer sentences.
