IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believe it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. Discuss both these views and give your opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
University life is alot more different than that of scool and college. The student has to interact with different people and strengthen his networking to make himself a useful citizen of the country.
The course of studies and the span of semester can not be completed or repeated for more than two time by the student on his own if we add the other courses in that short time too,the focus or efficiency may be lost and the grades would be affected badly, which directly worses the CGPA score. Moreover, the loss of old school friends , the diversity of students and sometimes stay in hostel makes it worse for the students to settle in the ambinace at once. Most of the students take much time in it and Another majour issue is that the students are often in the attempt to discover thaier ownselves when they join the university. This makes it difficult for them to cope with the demands of both the semester and the additional courses.
But the university is a platform for the practise or is a stepstone to practicle life.It should not only award the students with grades and degree but also prepare them for service to the industries and strenthen the economy of the country. It is the best place to learn from the reseaching teams and professors who are their to make you excel in different feilds. The diversity of students and the direct interactons with the students from other departments make you more skillful with your communication skills and for practicle life ,your tongue can be a tool and make you both popular and useful in different areas.
There are both the advantages and disadvantages of choosing either of the options but one must think practically anddo as he has the potential to handle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss reasons for concentrating on a qualification, including the risk that extra courses could reduce focus and affect grades, and you also describe broader benefits of university, such as learning from other departments and preparing for practical life. However, the task asks you to compare learning additional subjects with giving all attention to the main qualification, and the second view is not explained clearly: the paragraph about university’s wider benefits focuses mainly on social and career development rather than studying other subjects. Your final sentence says students should consider their potential, but it does not establish a clear, specific opinion. Develop both views directly and state which you support, with a relevant example to explain why.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some paragraphing, and the response moves from difficulties with extra study to the wider benefits of university, so the reader can identify its broad direction. However, the progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The opening introduces networking, but the next paragraph shifts to workload and adjustment without showing how these points connect. The contrast beginning “But the university” is also unclear because it does not directly answer the opposing view about studying additional subjects. Several sentences contain many ideas joined by commas, making relationships difficult to follow. Use a clearer structure—one paragraph for each view, followed by a conclusion—and use linking phrases to show contrast and cause and effect precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “qualification,” “efficiency,” “diversity,” “economy,” and “communication skills.” These choices show an effort to discuss academic and practical outcomes. However, the range is uneven, and frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “worses,” “ambinace,” “thaier,” “practicle,” and “reseaching.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “strengthen his networking” and “discover their ownselves.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “build a professional network” and “adjust to university life” would help express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if we add the other courses in that short time too” and a relative clause in “professors who are their to make you excel.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and punctuation can interrupt understanding. For example, “The student has to interact with different people and strengthen his networking” shifts awkwardly between singular reference and a general claim, while “can not be completed or repeated for more than two time” has errors in the verb phrase and plural form. Several sentences run together without full stops. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate punctuation.
