Student answer (Band 5.0)
Several university pupils want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Other argue that it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. In my view, students give full attention on their own subject because it is crucial for them.
On the one hand, many people would argue that students learn their own subject as well as learn other subject because it is very important for the student in daily life. When pupils learn another subject so they gain a lot of experience and knowledge about it. For instance, if a person subject is computer science they learn about the medical so it gives a lot of help because they understand a lot of things about body and illness. It gives more opportunities in the life since they get a job.
On the other hand, many people believe that students can learn their own subject because when they give full attention to this and time so they see a bigger picture about it and they learn a lot of things about it. When they are graduated so they are understanding so many things about their own subject. For example, a computer science student give full attention on this so they can learn anything about computer and also they understand every mistake about their practices.
In conclusion, many people think that student can learn other subject. However I believe students can learn their own subject because it gives a lot of help in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and state a clear preference: “students give full attention on their own subject.” The two body paragraphs broadly match the task, and the computer-science examples are relevant. However, the reasons are only briefly explained, and some claims remain vague—for example, the medical knowledge example does not show clearly how studying an unrelated subject helps the student. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing the discussion together. The response is 227 words, so it is 23 words below the required minimum; the 28 words copied from the prompt are not counted. This shortfall contributes to the limited development. Explain each view more fully and support your opinion with a specific, clearly connected example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, so the reader can follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and ideas are often linked mechanically through repeated patterns such as “When… so…” and “because.” References such as “this” in “give full attention to this” are not always precise, while “many people” is repeated without adding a clear distinction between viewpoints. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one main reason, explain its consequence, and use clearer referencing and a wider range of natural links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “qualification,” “experience,” “knowledge,” and “opportunities.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “subject,” “learn,” and “a lot of.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “a person subject” and “gives a lot of help,” which make the argument less clear. Aim for more precise academic expressions and vary repeated wording; for example, describe how additional study “broadens a student’s knowledge” or “improves career prospects.” Check that chosen phrases fit their context, rather than relying on general words such as “things” and “help.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “if a person subject is computer science…” and “because they understand…”. This shows an effort to connect ideas, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward to follow. Examples include “Other argue” and “a computer science student give,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “When they are graduated so they are understanding,” which has problems with verb form and sentence construction. Articles and plurals also need attention. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add a subordinate clause; proofread agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
