Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent decade, few students believe that learning new things and knowlege is crucial rather than their main subject. On the other hand, other argue that it is important to give all their focus in studying desire subject.I would believe that studing other courses are very benificial for future success because it provides usefull skills and enhance knowlege as well.

firstly, the upcoming time will become very difficult to secure jobs.so it is important to learn new skills rather than focusing on single subject. It provides new skills, knowlege and get a real world experienceas well. For instance, majority of individuals trying to secure their future in different fields.it is only possible when we learn other subject.furthermore,it improve adaptability of securing further job.many people learn new things and improve their status.

nevertheless, giving importance to single object will improve success rate in academic level and deep expertise in single subject.furthermore,it will reduce stress from student.for example, many students focus on single subject and get success at academic level as well as in future job securing.it will also enhance the expertise in individual subject which is important for further development and get desire achivement.

In conclusion, both has important impact in student progress. studying other subject gives skills, improve flexability and so on.In contrast, focusing on single subject improves academic success , deep expertise in single subject and also reduce stress from student. From my prospective, learning new subject is curcial for students in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both perspectives and state a preference for studying additional subjects, with relevant points about transferable skills, adaptability, academic achievement and expertise. However, the discussion is only partially developed: claims such as learning other subjects helping students secure jobs, and focusing on one subject reducing stress, are asserted rather than explained with specific examples. The position is present, but the wording “I would believe” and the brief conclusion make it less consistently clear and persuasive. The response also contains 237 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250. Develop each view with a clear explanation and a concrete example, then make your opinion explicit and consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “On the other hand,” “Firstly,” “Nevertheless” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear because several claims are placed together without showing how one leads to the next. For example, the first body paragraph moves from job competition to skills, real-world experience and adaptability without developing those links. Some transitions also feel mechanical, and the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the relationship between each supporting point and the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “expertise,” “adaptability,” “academic level” and “future development.” These choices show an attempt to discuss education and employment beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited by repetition of “subject,” “skills” and “success,” while noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message less clear. Examples include “knowlege,” “benificial,” “flexability” and “desire achivement.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “secure further job” and “single object.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common academic collocations; vary repeated terms only when the alternative is precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the two views and clauses introduced by “when” and “which.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but frequent errors in sentence formation and grammatical control can make the reader pause. For example, “other argue” lacks subject–verb agreement, “it improve adaptability” has the same issue, and “both has important impact” contains agreement and article problems. Several sentences also lack clear boundaries or punctuation, particularly where clauses run together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and use full stops to separate complete ideas. Once these basics are more reliable, add complex structures selectively and check each clause.
