Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that few university students want to explore other sunjects rather then their main subjects. But others think it is more important to pay all their attention and time to studying just for a degree. First i will discuss both views then i will give my own opinion.

Firstly those students who are argue to learn new subjects in addition to their main subjects. This is because if students have their own choice to learn something new brings much benefits for them. As a result they are staying motivated and focused on their selective subjects. While, other believe that pay all their time and attention on their main subjects just for getting a degree. They are also right at their base because if students have not much education he is not perform well in the society. In other words spending time on particular books bring benefits like they can able to get good grades and also perform well in their education life. For example, todays some companies hire those people who high graduate degree.

From my prospective, i think students who are want to learn new subjects is more beneficial. In other words, they are able to learn different skills or explore different cultural and traditional facts about world. For example, students who are focusing on practical rather than theory are perform very well in the society. Hence, they have more routes to choose their future.

In conclusion, although individuals have different viewpoints but i think students who are focusing on different things is beneficial. They have more ways and more routes to choose their future rather than others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a consistent preference for learning additional subjects, so the response is relevant to the task. The discussion of focused study includes a reason—students may gain good grades and improve their prospects—and the example of companies hiring graduates. However, the two sides are not developed evenly: the benefits of concentrating on a qualification are only briefly explained, and the company example is general. Your own view is clear, but claims such as learning about “different cultural and traditional facts” and having “more routes” are not fully explained or illustrated. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph discussing the two views, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “For example,” “Hence,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, the first body paragraph moves between the two positions without a clear division, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “While, other believe” does not clearly connect the contrast, and “They” in the conclusion could refer to more than one group. Give each viewpoint its own focused paragraph, and use pronouns and linking phrases that make the relationship between ideas explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to education and future opportunities, including “qualification,” “motivated,” “focused,” and “practical.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. Examples include “at their base,” “high graduate degree,” and “more routes to choose their future.” There are also spelling errors, such as “sunjects” and “prospective,” and repeated use of “subjects,” “students,” and “beneficial.” Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe the advantages as “broader career options” rather than repeating the idea of having more routes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “if students have their own choice…” and “although individuals have different viewpoints…”. However, many attempts contain errors in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction, which sometimes make the meaning unclear. For example, “those students who are argue” should use a single verb form, while “they are staying motivated” and “students who are focusing… is beneficial” show problems with tense or subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “This is because if…” is also awkwardly constructed. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and verb forms.
