Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that university students should study additional subjects along their main subjects and focus only on their main qualification. In my opinion, University students should leran more subjects because it has a long term benefits for a student's career.
It is firmly believed that some people argue that university students should have to focus and give all attention on their main subjects . The main reason is that university subjects are already tough and need a lot of time and hardwork. If a student tries to learn more subjects, at the same time, he studies his main subject, he may not a master in all of them peoperly. Furthermore, focusing on main subject helps students to become experts in their subject which is beneficial for their higher studies like a master's or a PHD.
Detractors of this viewpoint argue that students should leran additional subjects. The primary conern is that in competitive world, learning more subjects along their main subject , students can get better jobs. For example, if a student is studying an enginnering subject, but he also learns bussiness and computer subjects or skills , he will have more job opportunities. Another reason is that, studying differnet subjects makes students more creative. They can connect different ideas from their different subjects and solve problems in a better way. It makes university life less boring, as a students have not studying their main subjects all the day.
In conclusion, although giving all attention to the main qualification has importance . But, I am conveinced that learning other subjects is more valuable for future success.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a consistent opinion: you explain why students may focus on their main qualification, then argue that additional subjects can improve career prospects and creativity. The engineering example helps make the second view concrete, and the conclusion returns to your position. This meets the task well, with some elements developed more fully than others. The case for focusing on a qualification includes workload and expertise, while the benefits of broader study receive more explanation and an example. To strengthen the response further, develop the first view with a specific illustration and explain more precisely how combining subjects leads to better career outcomes, rather than relying on broad claims such as “more job opportunities.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression from the reasons for concentrating on a major to the advantages of studying additional subjects is easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the opening of the first body paragraph repeats the idea that students should focus on their main subjects. The sentence beginning “If a student tries to learn more subjects” is also difficult to follow, which interrupts the connection between the workload point and its consequence. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “qualification,” “competitive,” “creative,” and “job opportunities,” and these choices communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “higher studies” and “connect different ideas.” However, spelling errors and awkward word combinations are noticeable, including “leran,” “peoperly,” “hardwork,” and “learn additional subjects along their main subject.” Some wording is also imprecise or repetitive, such as “more subjects” and “different subjects.” These issues limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations—for example, “alongside their main subject” and “broaden their career prospects”—to express ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure (“If a student tries to learn more subjects…”) and a relative clause (“which is beneficial for their higher studies”). This gives the response some variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. For example, “he may not a master” is missing a verb, while “as a students have not studying” has problems with the article, agreement, and verb form. The conclusion’s “although … But” construction is also not grammatically complete as written. Improve control of clauses, verb forms, and agreement, and proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries. Recasting complex sentences more simply when needed will help make your meaning consistently clear.
