Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days some graduation students wants to learn about other majors as wll with their main subjects. While others students believes that its is crucial to focus only their main subjects. However i firmly believe that its necessary to gave all attentation to their main subjects.

In the begining it would be quite true to say that focusing on our main major, it will help us to succseed in our life. For example, when we gave all our attention to our main subjects so our knowledge and understanding about the major will sharply increased, so we will work properly in this field without doing a single mistake. Moreover, if we gave all our attention to the main subject so it will be easy for us to give any exam or test relateted to our major. For instance, i am a medical student if i continusely focus on my main subjects such as biology, anotomy, physiology and biochemistry so it will be easy for me to give any exam related to medical as well as it also help me during my clinical training.

On the other hand, if we focused other subjects as well with our main subject so it will be dificult for us to understand our main subjects. Moreover, we cannot reached to the peak at our main major if we didnot focused only on it. for example, i am a medical student and if a focused on mechanics or electronics with my main subjects so it will make a issues for me becouse medical do not have any relation with mechanics or electronis so it will just waste my time nothing else.

In conclusion, it would be easy to conclude that the advantages of focusing on main subjects is far more overweight then the advantages of focusing other subjects as wll,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear preference for concentrating on a main subject, and the medical-student example gives this view some personal relevance. However, the task asks you to discuss both perspectives, and the case for studying additional subjects is not really explained: it is mainly dismissed as a distraction, with mechanics and electronics as the example. This leaves one side of the discussion underdeveloped and makes the response only partially address the task. To strengthen the response, explain a genuine benefit of broader study—such as developing communication or problem-solving skills—and support it with an example. Then compare that benefit with the advantages of specialisation and make your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting specialisation, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “Moreover” and repeated conditional patterns beginning “if we… so…”. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from a general claim to an example without developing the reasoning. Some references, such as “it” in “it will make a issues,” are unclear. Use a wider range of linking methods, make each paragraph develop one central point, and connect examples explicitly to the claim they illustrate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “qualification,” “clinical training,” and “main subjects,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning harder to follow. For example, “reach to the peak at our main major” and “far more overweight” do not express the intended comparison naturally; “focus” and “main subjects” are also repeated frequently. Spelling errors such as “begining,” “succseed,” and “dificult” further affect control. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing specialisation and broader learning, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if I… focus… so it will be easy for me,” and you use examples to extend your points. However, these longer structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently. For instance, “some graduation students wants” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “we cannot reached” uses an incorrect verb form. The opening also contains “its is,” and several sentences join clauses with commas or run on without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, then check agreement and verb forms before adding further ideas.
