Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many higher education institution's learners wish to study about other subjects with their major modules. While other argue that devote all their time and attention to pursuing a qualification In my view ,main priority is given to the main subjects. This essay will discuss both aspects in upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with ,pursuing diverse modules enables students to develop into well-rounded individuals .First and foremost, gaining knowledge of various subjects provide career opportunities in every field. To be more precise, If pupils learn numerous subjects, it allows them to attain knowledge of every aspects related to world. As a result, learners become all-rounder and build their career in any sector for their livelihood. Furthermore, holistic development and problem solving skills. That is to say ,when students study main modules along with other subjects like science and history, it enhancing cognitive flexibility and fostering all- round development, enabling learners to tackle complex real world problems from multidisciplinary perspectives

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views: the first body paragraph explains the benefits of studying broadly, while the second gives reasons to concentrate on a qualification, including expertise and fewer distractions. Your opinion is also stated in the introduction and conclusion: the main subjects should receive priority. However, the discussion is only partly developed. For example, the claim that studying different subjects creates career opportunities “in every field” is broad and would be stronger with a specific, realistic example. The point about avoiding pressure is also asserted rather than explained. Clarify whether you support exclusive focus or simply prioritising the major, then develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example to make the response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its overall structure. Paragraphs generally keep to one side of the discussion. However, progression within sentences and between ideas is often difficult to follow. Connectors such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore,” and “On the flipside” sometimes introduce points that are incomplete or not clearly linked; “Furthermore, holistic development and problem solving skills” is a fragment rather than a developed supporting point. References such as “it” and “them” are also unclear in places. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim, explanation, and example explicit. This would create a clearer line of argument across the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “well-rounded individuals,” “cognitive flexibility,” “multidisciplinary perspectives,” and “professional.” These choices show an effort to discuss education beyond basic terms. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less clear. For instance, “higher education institution's learners” is an awkward way to refer to university students, and “all-rounder” is not natural in this context. Phrases such as “main modules,” “knowledge,” and “subjects” recur frequently, while “style the major modules” appears to be an incorrect expression. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check that each less-common term fits the sentence rather than using it for variety alone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If students learn only main modules…” and a relative clause beginning “which allows them…”. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the argument. Examples include “other argue,” “knowledge … provide,” and “it enhancing,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. Several sentences are incomplete, such as “Furthermore, holistic development and problem solving skills” and “Which allows them to only gain knowledge…”. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, with capitalisation after commas and full stops used inappropriately. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
