Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some students think that studying addition subject is helpful while other believes that focusing on main subject which helps a lot for qualification.
In my opinion, both ideas are valid however I feels that studying addition subjects along with main subject is more difficult for the students . I believe that studying more subjects make you feel disturb and you don't give proper time to your main subject which cost your qualification .
In this era , we have not a lot of time to spend on other subject , we only need to focus on the main subject . If someone wants to study more subjects, it is not bad but it is time taking you don't have enough to studying and understanding every subject .
Studying more subject makes your vision vast and you also have some information about other subjects
For example , if my major is Science and I also studying mathematics in addition it will increase information however Science is a difficult subject which demands a lot of focus for proper understanding . You need to spend your majorty of time for studying science to qualify but you also studying mathematics in addition which is also a difficult subject that distribute your time for two subjects which will cause your qualification scenario.
In conclusion, if you spend your time in studying major subject you will easily qualify but if you need to study more subjects you will choose easy subject along with major subject which doesn't need a lot of time .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal position: you acknowledge that studying additional subjects can broaden a student’s knowledge, but argue that concentrating on the major subject is more practical. The Science and Mathematics example is relevant and helps explain the concern about dividing study time. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of learning beyond a qualification are only briefly stated, and the essay mainly develops the disadvantages. Your position also shifts somewhat, since you initially favour studying additional subjects but conclude that students should choose an easy one alongside their major. Explain more clearly how you weigh the two views, and develop each with a specific reason or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, several body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to the question. The example about Science and Mathematics gives the discussion a recognisable focus. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph beginning “In this era” repeats the argument about limited time, while the sentence about a broader vision appears without being connected to the surrounding point. Linking phrases such as “however,” “for example” and “in conclusion” are used, but relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear or repetitive. Organise the body around one view per paragraph, then use a clear transition to compare them and lead into your final opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “qualification,” “major subject,” “focus” and “understanding,” so the reader can follow the general argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For example, “studying addition subject,” “makes your vision vast” and “distribute your time” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “subject,” “study” and “time” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing academic breadth, workload and outcomes, and check word forms and collocations when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if my major is Science,” and you use contrast clauses to present the two views. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to process. Examples include “other believes,” “I feels,” “studying more subjects make,” and “I also studying mathematics,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “studying addition subject” and the long Science example. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and present-tense forms, then divide long sentences into shorter units. Careful punctuation and proofreading would make your ideas easier to follow.
