Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some university students show interest in learning other subjects additionally to their main ones. Whereas some students want to focus on a qualification. In my opinion when studying the main subjects are important for degree and knowledge in corresponding field, learning extra subjects in order to gain some essential skills is a good approach for students to get ready for the job market.

To begin with, the students who learn only main subjects which can provide them important knowledge of their area of interest. Gradually, they can focus on the essential study. As a result, they can get respective grades during their academics. Eventually, they can become expert of the curricular subjects rather than focusing on extra subjects. For instance, a student who intended to be a great in their field can focus only on main subjects rather than mugging everything. He might feel stressed learning about extra subjects which might not add up to his results. At the end he can get the best grades in important subjects Finally, his degree holds a good prestige in market.

Whereas, when educants learn some extra skills from other subjects such as communication. Additionally, they can get a basic outlook of how to handle and talk with the higher levels employees or managers due to the knowledge of essential skills which are provided during studies. For example, when a student gained some extra skills from his university studies he can handle difficult talks easily. In addition, he can cope with difficult situations which can make someone nervous or anxious like public speaking or giving interview. Eventually, the extra skills make huge impact on curriculam vitae.

Conclusively, when focusing and scoring on main subjects can bring the feeling of satisfaction in student. Learning good and essential skills can add up a ability to fight the difficult situation and can make a person ideal for various job roles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both views and give a clear overall opinion: focusing on core subjects can support strong academic results, while learning additional skills can help students prepare for employment. The examples about public speaking, interviews and workplace communication make the second view relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph mainly repeats the benefit of concentrating on grades, and the claim that a degree gains “good prestige in market” is not explained. Your position would also be stronger if you stated more directly how students should balance the two priorities. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “For instance,” and “In addition” help readers follow the discussion. However, some links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship between ideas accurately. For example, “Whereas” begins a paragraph without completing a contrastive sentence, and “Eventually” and “Finally” are used where the progression is not always clear. Some references, such as “he” after discussing “a student,” also make the general argument less consistent. Use topic sentences that clearly signal each side, and connect examples directly to the point they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “qualification,” “essential skills,” “public speaking,” and “job market,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “curriculum vitae.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “learn other subjects additionally,” “mugging everything,” “higher levels employees,” and “make huge impact.” “Educants” is also not the appropriate word for university students, and “curriculam” is misspelled. These choices sometimes make the meaning less natural, even when it remains clear. Prioritise accurate, natural collocations and check spelling, rather than reaching for unusual vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “which,” “when,” and “rather than,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence structure, articles, agreement and punctuation. For example, “the students who learn only main subjects which can provide them…” is an incomplete and confusing construction; “a ability” needs an article correction; and “Finally, his degree…” should be separated from the preceding sentence with appropriate punctuation. There is also a shift between plural students and singular “he,” which affects consistency. Build complex sentences around a clear main clause, and proofread articles, sentence boundaries and pronoun agreement.
