Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, some students wants to learn other subjects in addition to thier main subjects and this has become a widely debated topic around the world. While some people believe that it has benefits other think that it can cause problem. In my opinion, the advantages of this are greater than disadvantages and i will give my reasons below.

The first main reason why many people do not support this idea. This is because if students wants to learn other subjects in addition to thier main subjects then this will be burden for them in studies and they can not even can save time to study thier main subjects and they also lose focus from it. Because of this a number of people feel worried about the effects it may have on students. This clearly shows this idea is not beneficial for the students. That is why most students do not support this idea in thier daily studies.

On the other hand, many people including myself believe that it has benefits. I personally support this view because of this reason, if students want to learn about other subjects in addition to main subjects they have then this will be beneficial for them in studying for thier field of interest also. For example, many students has also benefited from this in a positive. As a result, more and more students are now in the favour of this idea everday.

In conclusion, although both views have some truth. I personally believe that the positive side is stronger. If people use it wisely and carefully, it will bring more good results the bad ones. I hope that government and individuals will work togther for best study stratigies for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion, stating that the advantages are greater, and you mention a relevant concern: studying extra subjects may burden students and reduce focus on their main qualification. However, the discussion is only partial because the benefits are not explained clearly. The claim that extra study helps students in their “field of interest” is difficult to follow, and the example that students have benefited “in a positive” gives no specific evidence. Develop both views with concrete reasoning—for instance, explain how an additional subject could broaden career options, then show how it might affect time for core coursework. The response addresses the topic, but its ideas remain limited and under-supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the concern, a paragraph supporting the benefits, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is often repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats that the idea is not beneficial and that students do not support it, without adding a new point. Some links are also unclear, particularly “I personally support this view because of this reason” and the following explanation. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, then develop it with explanation and an example. This would make the overall organisation more coherent and reduce mechanical repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general discussion, including “main subjects,” “qualification,” “burden,” “focus,” and “field of interest.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “has benefits,” “this idea,” and “positive side.” Some word choices and collocations make meaning less natural: “benefited from this in a positive” is incomplete, while “bring more good results the bad ones” does not express the comparison accurately. Spelling errors such as “thier,” “everday,” and “togther” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise academic expressions and check spelling; for example, specify the particular skills or opportunities that studying another subject can provide.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if students want to learn … then this will be beneficial,” and you use clauses beginning with “while” and “although.” However, errors are frequent, and some complex sentences are faulty or difficult to follow. Examples include “some students wants,” “if students wants,” and “many students has,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. The sentence beginning “The first main reason …” is incorrectly punctuated and then continues as a fragment: “This is because…” Several sentences also contain awkward or incomplete constructions, such as “although both views have some truth.” Practise agreement, sentence boundaries, and complete clause structures, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
