Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today,s busy world every one is stressed about whether to choose field which will helpful for their future career goals. While some students are been addicted after choosing the field to other subjects rather than to their main subjects. However, it ha s both positive as well as negative affect on students timetable as well as future career. If a student want to learn about other subjects it has a psotive affect on their mind, which results in useful decision to advanced their level of studies. For example, when i has taken admission at my university, I was in worries about my future goals and want to learn about other department subjects to know about their job preferences. Although, it has also cons because, it will change the mindset of the students in addition to their subjects, which result in failure in goals.

Furthermore, some believes that it is more helpful to give time and attention to studies for qualification. In my perspectives, it,s a good idea rather than learning other subjects because, studying for qualifying helps individual focus on their goals rather than other subjects, which result in positive consequences on their career. For instance, when i was at last semester at my university, i give all my attention to studying for qualification and to obtain my target which was been set by me for my career advancement. As result, i achieve my future career goal and remind me about my positive decision.

Overall, I believe that it is more crucial to follow the subjects that are been useful for qualification, rather than stayed to other subjects which result in waste of time and attention to details.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a clear preference for focusing on the qualification, especially in the final paragraph. The examples from your university experience make the response relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the benefits of studying other subjects are described generally as helping students make useful decisions, while the possible drawback is asserted as causing “failure in goals” without explaining how or when this might happen. The case for concentrating on a qualification is clearer, but it also needs more specific reasoning about how this focus supports career preparation. Develop each view with a concrete explanation and example, and make your position explicit earlier as well as in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about studying other subjects, a paragraph supporting qualification-focused study, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Furthermore,” and “Overall” help signal the stages of the argument. At times, though, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because ideas are joined mechanically or their relationship is unclear. For example, “Although, it has also cons because” does not form a clear contrast, and the conclusion repeats the preference without adding a final reason. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports; also check that pronouns such as “it” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “qualification,” “career goals,” “job preferences,” and “career advancement,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. Phrases such as “addicted after choosing the field,” “positive affect on their mind,” and “waste of time and attention to details” do not express the ideas naturally. Spelling and form errors, including “psotive” and “perspectives” where “perspective” is intended, also reduce precision. Build a bank of accurate academic collocations for discussing study choices, benefits, and drawbacks, then check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “which,” and “because,” and the reader can usually identify your main point. However, the complex structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur throughout. Examples include “If a student want,” “some students are been addicted,” and “when i has taken admission”; these make the relationships between events and ideas harder to follow. Sentence boundaries and apostrophes also need attention, as in “In my perspectives, it,s.” Practise forming accurate conditional and relative clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and tense consistency before adding more complex structures.
