Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that university students should learn about another subjects for learn new skills in addition to their main subjects. Meanwhile, others believe that it is beneficial for students to give all their time and attention to studying for a complete their study and better result. However, I believe that it is important for students to complete their study to give full attention.

On the one hand, university students should learn many subjects for learn new skills. As when we have many skills, we can do different jobs and we can also easily found new jobs. Take an example of Russia, there many students search different projects and find many new jobs. Thus, learn new subjects is leading benefit for students.

On the while hand, it is beneficial for students to spend more time and attention for their study to achieve high grade. As when we choose another subjects in addition to their main subject, we lost our high score. For instance, one student was kings gill university of Germany, he choose many subjects of different addition and lost his grades. Hence, give more time and attention to studying is very important for students.

However, I believe that it is important for students to give thier time ant attention to studying for a qualification. As for achieve higher score, we should do hardwork.

To sum up, university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main subjects. Others believes that it is more important to give all their time and attention to studying for a qualification. However, I believe that it is important for students to complete their study.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You present both views and state your opinion: you support focusing on the qualification, while the first body paragraph gives a reason to study additional subjects. However, the discussion is only partial and the supporting ideas are limited. The claim that extra skills help students find different jobs is relevant, but the Russia example is unclear; the example about a student at “kings gill university of Germany” is also difficult to understand and does not explain how taking extra subjects caused lower grades. Your opinion is repeated rather than developed with a fuller reason or example. The response is 235 words, so it is 15 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each view with a clear explanation and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph stating your opinion, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify the intended structure. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “However,” and “To sum up.” However, progression within paragraphs is weak: examples are introduced but not clearly connected to the claims, and the opinion paragraph largely repeats the introduction. Some linking is inaccurate or repetitive, including “On the while hand” and repeated use of “However.” References such as “their main subject” and “he” are not always clearly tied to the people being discussed. Use accurate transitions, make each paragraph develop one main point, and connect examples explicitly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “main subjects,” “skills,” “qualification,” and “high grade,” and the general topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “complete their study” does not naturally express finishing a qualification, while “learn new subjects is leading benefit” is difficult to interpret. “Search different projects” and “lost our high score” also do not convey the intended ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “thier” and “ant” further reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural academic phrases for discussing study choices, workload, grades, and career prospects, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, for example, “As when we have many skills, we can do different jobs,” and you use some subordination to explain reasons. However, the range is limited, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. Errors include “students should learn about another subjects,” “for learn new skills,” and “there many students search different projects,” where articles, verb forms, or sentence structure are missing or incorrect. Agreement and tense are also inconsistent in “Others believes” and “he choose.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “students can learn additional subjects to develop skills” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms in every sentence.
