Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some bachelor students want to do additional course along with main academic subjects. While, others argue that more engaging to studing for a qualification is more benefical. In my opinion, By learning other subject, student could be expand their academic knowledge and doing well in the future.

Learning phase is the most important time of our life because with it, we can bright our future. There are many benefits of learning additional subjects. One of the main benefits is that, students can enhance their knoweldge and they might be familir with new technologies. Additionally, the opportunities of employement could be increased in different sectors. And student are able to manage busy schedule that can be help them into future. For example, Nowadays, a widspread use of the technology, university students are doing an online minor subjects with their main subject and this could be help them in placement prospective.

On the other hand, it is a debatable topic because some students believe that giving all their energy to achieving their degree is more important. One of the main reasons is that students can focus more on their main subjects and achieve better academic results. Moreover, some professional qualifications require a lot of time and practice. If students spend their time learning additional subjects, they might not be able to complete their main studies properly. For example, medical students need to spend more time studying their main subjects and practising their skills because their profession requires a high level of knowledge.

In conclusion, although focusing on a main qualification is important for achieving good academic results, I believe that learning additional subjects is also beneficial because it increases students' knowledge and provides them with more career opportunities in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear opinion: additional subjects can broaden knowledge and improve career prospects, while concentrating on a qualification can support stronger results, particularly in medicine. These points are relevant and the conclusion restates your position. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of extra study are listed, but ideas such as managing a busy schedule and gaining opportunities across sectors are not explained in detail. The online-minor example is also unclear, so its connection to employment prospects is not fully demonstrated. To strengthen the response, explain how an additional subject could complement a degree and give a more specific example of the resulting career benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of broader study to the case for focusing on a qualification is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Additionally,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. At times, however, linking feels mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not clear. For instance, “And student are able to manage busy schedule” is added without explaining how this supports the preceding point. The example about online minor subjects also does not connect smoothly to placement prospects. Develop the relationship between each claim and its example, and use referencing and transitions more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “academic results,” “professional qualifications,” “practising their skills,” and “career opportunities.” These expressions suit the topic and help communicate the main ideas. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, as in “knoweldge,” “familir,” “employement,” and “widespread use of the technology.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “placement prospective” and “bright our future” do not express the intended ideas clearly. These slips do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “improve employment prospects” and “broaden their knowledge,” before using less familiar expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional sentence beginning “If students spend their time learning additional subjects” and a subordinate clause explaining why medical students need more study time. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in basic sentence patterns. For example, “student could be expand” has an incorrect verb form, while “student are able” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening “While, others argue” is an incomplete and incorrectly punctuated clause, and “a busy schedule” needs an article. Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms, and punctuate introductory clauses accurately. More consistent control of these patterns would make your varied sentences clearer.
