Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both questions by giving reasons for self-employment, including freedom from workplace rules and the flexibility of remote work. However, the task also asks for disadvantages, and this part is not answered: the response presents self-employment almost entirely positively and does not explain risks such as unstable income, lack of benefits, or responsibility for finding clients. Some reasons are also unclear or insufficiently supported. For example, the point about fixed salaries being insufficient is asserted rather than explained, and the COVID example does not clearly show why people chose self-employment. To improve, state a clear, balanced position and develop at least one relevant disadvantage with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs about reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “For instance,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the overall progression is limited because both body paragraphs focus on advantages, leaving the requested disadvantages absent. Some links are mechanical or unclear, and several ideas run together, particularly in the first body paragraph. The conclusion repeats the preference for self-employment rather than drawing together a balanced answer. Use each paragraph for a distinct task point, make the connection between examples and claims explicit, and use clear sentence boundaries so the reader can follow the argument more easily.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “rules and regulations,” “remote work,” “routine,” and “competitive edge.” These choices show an attempt to discuss employment and working conditions. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spellings are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “a fix amount” and “sufficient to survival” do not express the intended ideas naturally, while “employes,” “salery,” and “Therefor” contain spelling errors. Repeated use of “self employed” and “people” also limits variety. Build a bank of accurate employment-related phrases and check spelling and word forms; more precise vocabulary will make your reasons clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, using structures such as “For instance if…” and “Moreover…,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently and can make the reader pause. Examples include “large number of people wants,” “people are goin,” and “their company not allow he,” where the subject, verb, and pronoun forms do not fit together. Some sentences also lack clear punctuation or contain several ideas joined without a reliable structure. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use shorter sentences when needed. Then add complex clauses gradually, checking each for agreement, articles, and punctuation before combining ideas.
