Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays people choose to be self-employed, rather than to work for a company or a organisation. This is a common case in today's era where everyone wants to start their own income by working for them self or building start ups.
A normal person who goes to a company and work there has a fixed salary and after a time it doesn't increases no matter how hard they work. But self-employed peoples can do anything as they want.
If a person does his own thing he could also enjoy it and earn by himself not depending upon others. They are the boss of their own. In the other hand people who work for a company or organisation has to follow the orders of their seniors which today's people doesn't like.
There are many disadvantages of being self-employed. They don't grow much higher as a company could. After many attempts the investment of theirs could be lost as they have to quit being self-employed. By these reasons many people try and fails by being self-employed which ruins their career.
As of my experience i was also a working for a company named "Asus". But the salary was limited and i had to follow their orders no matter how hard i work for them. After that I started to be self-employed which was a turning point in my career. I failed many times but never quit and now i am successful. But not always who be self-employed gets successful.
From my knowledge and experience, being self-employed is not bad unless u have the spirit to achieve something and patience to gain success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for choosing self-employment and the potential disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided (autonomy, salary potential) are somewhat superficial, and the disadvantages (lack of growth, risk of failure) are stated rather than fully explored with depth or nuance. The personal example is relevant but lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical explanations, ensuring that the connection between your ideas and the prompt is more robust.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'In the other hand', 'By these reasons'). There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas within and between sentences. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the transitions between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion feel abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking phrases and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'they', 'this') is always clear will significantly improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'do anything as they want' and 'start their own income'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'a organisation' (should be 'an organisation') and 'not always who be self-employed gets successful'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to the topic of employment and business, and ensure that your word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('salary... doesn't increases', 'people... has to follow', 'people try and fails') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the capitalization of 'i'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses.
