Student answer (Band 6.0)
The growing influence of individuals to become self-employed in contemporary society has sparked various objections regarding this. This issue is particularly significant because of its threatening impacts on companies or organizations. In this essay, I will discuss certain reasons and detrimental effects of being self-employed.
To begin with, current expenses are a turning point for individual employment. In modern life, earning good money is quite hard; therefore, residents consider not working for other organizations. Perhaps, they can easily invest money to start their own business which can help them to achieve long-term goals. As it is arduous to work under others. Moreover, there are numerous benefits to become self-employed. Firstly, it assists people to control their schedules, allowing individuals to set a particular goal for the success of their own business. Additionally, it sets a impressive impression to communities. Thus, it is believed that society would give love to people who are not working under any company. Other organizations often put restrictions over absentees. Consequently, they also deduct their salary due to that fact. This is the most troubling part of not being self-employed.
The growing trend of people to attain international education requires ownership of their parents in their business. If a father runs his own company, then the child would not go through any challenges in their immigration process. Due to that fact, most people are playing a crucial role to strengthen their financial status. Hence, it provides more opportunities to students to attain global knowledge.
However, there are an enormous drawback for being self-employed. Running an own company is quite hard. The ups and downs are inevitable. Initially, it needs hard work and a great deal of to start up a new corporation. Hiring people is one of the most challenging parts. In recent decades, the nature of people is unpredictable. Managers do not have surety of their worker's natures. Furthermore, it requires a large amount of investment to start up business. One question arises that, if everyone opens his or her own organization, then who will work as a worker?
In a nutshell, self-employment serves numerous benefits to residents. An already rich person can avail this. Despite them, most people are already facing financial burden, then how could they start with their own business?

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you identify reasons for self-employment (flexibility, financial goals) and disadvantages (hard work, financial risk), some arguments are unclear or irrelevant. For instance, the paragraph regarding 'international education' and 'immigration' is not clearly linked to the prompt about why people choose self-employment. Additionally, the conclusion introduces new, slightly contradictory ideas rather than summarizing the main points. To improve, ensure every paragraph directly supports your thesis and provides clear, logical examples that relate specifically to the reasons for or disadvantages of being self-employed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often weak. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell', but they are sometimes used mechanically or do not accurately reflect the relationship between sentences. For example, the transition 'The growing trend of people to attain international education...' feels disconnected from the previous paragraph. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Despite them' in the final paragraph, which does not clearly refer back to a previous point. Improving the flow between sentences will help the reader follow your argument more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there is a lack of precision and some awkward collocations. You use phrases like 'sets a impressive impression' (should be 'makes a positive impression') and 'nature of people is unpredictable' (which is vague). There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'absentees' to describe employees and 'ownership of their parents' which is confusing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are an enormous drawback'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'It is arduous to work under others'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentence fragments and run-on structures occur. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and practice using complex structures like conditional sentences or relative clauses more accurately to demonstrate a wider range of control.
