Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for choosing self-employment and the potential disadvantages. However, the development is limited. The ideas are presented in a somewhat repetitive manner, and the arguments lack depth or specific real-world examples. The conclusion contradicts the earlier stance by suggesting that working for an organization is better, which makes the overall position inconsistent. To improve, you should focus on expanding your points with more detailed explanations and ensuring your argument remains focused and logical throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'on the one hand' and 'on the other hand' are used, they are sometimes applied incorrectly or in a mechanical way. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'in case of that man have ability', which makes it difficult to follow the logical progression of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'great', 'good', and 'work'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'start its own material of work' and 'grownup salary', which are not standard English expressions. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations related to business and employment. Focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing how they are used in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('company do not have'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which hinders the clarity of your message. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on consistent verb tense usage. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
