Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for self-employment and the potential disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the explanation regarding 'freedom' and 'vacations' is somewhat simplistic and lacks depth. The discussion of disadvantages, such as financial risk and the need for skilled employees, is relevant but remains surface-level. To achieve a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples or logical extensions of your points. The position is clear, but the overall development is underdeveloped, which restricts the score to a 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'To the conclusion' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is frequently disjointed. For instance, the transition 'Although, the owner have to hire...' does not logically follow the previous sentence about business success. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'it have limited salary' where the pronoun 'it' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'bussiness' (misspelled), 'work', and 'people'. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'bussiness', 'gurantee', 'successfull', and 'benifits'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the persistent spelling issues prevent a higher score. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to employment and business, and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'some of masses thinks' and 'the person work'. Articles are frequently missing or misused, for example, 'in starting for the opening of the bussiness'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'if the person work in company they have to take permission'. A wider range of error-free complex structures is needed to move beyond a 5.0.
