Student answer (Band 4.5)
Nowadays many people choose to be self employed because in current situiation people want to work freely.Noboday want to work for company or organization because they dont give free hands to their workers and genz dont want to work in a such firm who cant give them free hands.
The salary which is given by firms and company are too less that cannot afforad their daily expence. In the most of the companys which hire people the take over work from their worker but they dont pay them well in the return so thats why people are quiting jobs and doing there own buisness.
So in the starting when they quiet their jobs and start their own buisness they have to face many hardships because they are new to these field. They dont have such experience to run their own buisness. When they gain experience they take very long time so their time is also waste and their is no chance of sucess. If they gain experience and the buisness dont run so what will they do so these hardships are faced by new self employed.
My cousin who was a teacher he quiet his job and start a buisness but he dont have experince of doing buisness so when he start business he was going in loss after three year he was still in loss so he shutdown his buisness and start his job again . So he did nothing and waste his three years and join his job again.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt by explaining reasons why people choose self-employment, such as the desire for autonomy and dissatisfaction with salaries, and outlining disadvantages like initial hardships and the risk of failure. However, the ideas are relatively undeveloped and rely heavily on generalisations and repetitive points. For instance, the discussion on disadvantages focuses almost entirely on the cousin's example without exploring other potential drawbacks like lack of stability or benefits. The position is discernible, but the overall development is limited, which places the response at Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which attempts to separate reasons and disadvantages. However, progression is somewhat disjointed. Sentences like 'So in the starting when they quiet their jobs...' demonstrate an overly conversational tone and weak logical flow between ideas. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive or misused, such as the frequent reliance on 'So' to start sentences. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in pronoun shifts. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is faulty, aligning with a Band 5 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The lexical range is limited and inadequate for sophisticated academic discourse. The student relies on basic, repetitive vocabulary such as 'work', 'job', 'company', 'business', and 'experience'. There are numerous spelling mistakes ('situiation', 'Noboday', 'genz', 'afforad', 'expence', 'companys', 'quiting', 'buisness', 'quiet', 'experince', 'sucess') and poor word choices ('take over work' instead of 'take on work', 'going in loss' instead of 'running at a loss'). These lexical shortcomings and frequent spelling errors cause considerable strain for the reader, fitting the Band 4 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is poor. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The salary... are too less', 'he dont have experince', 'business dont run'), incorrect verb tenses ('he quiet his job'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences and a lack of proper comma usage. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and reflect Band 4 performance.
