Student answer (Band 5.0)
self employment is like having its own business. in comparing with this new era mnay people wanted to be self-employed because it has many advantages but it has disadvantages too. firstly it need high self esteem and motivation in a person because there is no one who is watching you or pushing you to do something you are your own boss and leader. so people with less consistency may not be able to self employ. in self employment there is slow consistent growth as you have to make a system 1st that will give you mony later and its a slow process. there is no off days in selfemployment further more there is no backups in self employment. When you face the loss and falls in your business or work no one is there. self employed has its benefits or advantage also but as compares with the advantage there are alot of disadvantages it depends on the person.sometimes in self employment you need the budget or experience also. There are alot of downfalls if you aren't experienced ot demotivation or emotionally unstable. so if you starting self employment you need a guider who is experienced or work on that feild. There are no fixed timings no family time in your starting few many years. so as compared with the benefits before deciding to go for job or self-employment they should compare and be prepare for these disadvantages. in conclusion as like everything has advantage or disadvantage self employment has aslo.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the main parts of the task by identifying reasons why people choose self-employment, such as autonomy, and discussing several disadvantages, including financial risk and lack of backups. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, maintaining a restricted scope throughout. For instance, the point regarding a lack of backups is introduced as 'there is no backups in self employment' without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. Furthermore, the writer's position is somewhat unclear due to repetitive statements and a lack of a strongly sustained viewpoint. To move up, the writer needs to fully extend their ideas with specific, detailed examples and provide more comprehensive explanations for both the motivations behind and the drawbacks of working independently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response demonstrates some overall organisation, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The writing is presented as a single dense paragraph rather than being divided into logical paragraphs for an introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the text difficult to follow. Additionally, cohesive devices are inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, with basic linking words like 'firstly', 'further more', and 'so' repeatedly driving the flow without creating smooth transitions between ideas. Referencing is also unclear at times, such as 'it depends on the person' without a clear antecedent. To improve, the writer must use paragraphing effectively to separate distinct ideas and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader through the text clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer attempts some less common terms related to the topic, such as 'self-employment', 'consistency', 'demotivation', and 'downfalls', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'mony' instead of money, 'feild' instead of field, and 'ot demotivation' which creates awkward phrasing. There are also issues with collocation, such as 'make a system'. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer should expand their lexical range, use less common vocabulary with greater precision regarding style and collocation, and ensure correct spelling and word formation throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, articles, and subject-verb agreement. For example, sentences often lack proper terminal punctuation or run on together without clear boundaries, as seen in 'there is no off days in selfemployment further more there is no backups in self employment.' Other errors include missing articles and incorrect pluralisation like 'loss and falls'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures while maintaining better control over basic sentence construction, punctuation, and grammatical agreements.
