One of the biggest advantage of self-employment is that people can choose what to do with their business and how to improve it according to their own preferences. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your response addresses all parts of the task by clearly explaining why people choose self-employment, such as freedom of choice and a flexible schedule, while also discussing the disadvantages like limited professional growth and financial risks. Your position is clear throughout the essay. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as comparing a businessman's income to a corporate worker's salary. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize in some of your supporting points, which keeps this criterion at its current level. To reach a higher band, you would need to fully develop every idea with more nuanced, detailed explanations and precise examples rather than relying on broader assumptions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are coherently structured, with each paragraph having a clear central topic. You make use of a range of cohesive devices flexibly to connect your ideas, such as "Furthermore", "On the other hand", and "Additionally". Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the introduction, the reasons for self-employment, the disadvantages, and the conclusion. Referencing is generally clear, though paragraphing and transition management could be slightly more seamless to achieve a more sophisticated flow. Overall, the structural progression of your argument is well managed and easy for the reader to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task and demonstrates a sufficient range for some flexibility and precision, such as using terms like "collaborative environment", "coorporate sector", and "financial burden". However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that prevent a higher score, such as "flexable" instead of flexible, "phenomenan" instead of phenomenon, "utlimately" instead of ultimately, "coorporate" instead of corporate, and "comperatively" instead of comparatively. You attempt less common lexical items, but these occasional inaccuracies in spelling and collocation require some effort from the reader and indicate that you are still consolidating control over more sophisticated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses that show an awareness of sentence architecture. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving subject-verb agreement and singular/plural forms, such as "The drawbacks of this phenomenan includes" where the verb does not match the plural noun, and "self-employment gave freedom" where past tense is used inappropriately instead of the present tense. Additionally, you write "Person idea's remain limited" where an article is missing and an apostrophe is misused. These recurring errors in basic grammatical patterns and agreements mean that while your sentences are generally understandable, they lack the high level of accuracy required for higher bands.
