Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify a relevant disadvantage of company employment: workers may have less time with family, and you also mention limits on income and ambition. However, the response does not answer both questions: it gives no clear reasons why people choose self-employment and does not explain the disadvantages of being self-employed. Instead, it mainly discusses disadvantages of working for a company, so the response only partially addresses the task. The ideas that are included are brief and lack specific explanation or examples. The required minimum length is also not met: the response is 163 words, which is 87 words short. To improve, address each question directly, develop each point with a cause-and-effect explanation, and add a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement is followed by points introduced with “On the one hand” and “Moreover,” and a concluding phrase signals an ending. These markers show some awareness of paragraph and idea structure. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening introduces a debate without establishing a clear position, and the body discusses company employment rather than consistently answering the prompt about self-employment. Several ideas are joined into long sentences, while the final summary repeats the same general point instead of drawing the discussion together. Use separate paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and make each paragraph develop one clearly stated idea with accurate links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “responsibility,” “ambitions,” “opportunities,” and “professional future,” so the reader can generally identify the intended subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “prefere,” “disadvanteges,” “salery,” and “payement.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “work in their own project” and “a subject considerable debate.” These issues fit a limited but minimally adequate vocabulary range: meaning is often recoverable, but accuracy and natural collocation are inconsistent. Build a bank of phrases for self-employment, such as “greater autonomy,” “irregular income,” and “financial security,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, using connectors such as “whereas,” “therefore,” and “because,” and the basic meaning of many points can be understood. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, the opening sentence has an unclear structure, while “workers who working for a company” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “a several jobs” and the comma splice in the sentence beginning “On the on hand.” These recurring errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the relationships between ideas. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses and check verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
