Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic, but it does not explain both questions sufficiently. It suggests that self-employment offers “better facilities” and contrasts this with the time and effort required by company work, yet these points are unclear and are not supported with reasons or examples. The disadvantages of self-employment are not actually identified; the final sentences instead describe expectations of employees. The opening also gives broad comments about employment rather than establishing a clear answer to the task. In addition, the response is 101 words, below the required 250. To improve, state specific reasons people choose self-employment, explain concrete disadvantages such as unstable income, and develop each point with an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it begins with a general introduction, then refers to self-employment and company work. However, the ideas do not progress into a clear explanation of the two questions, and the final paragraph does not clearly connect to the preceding claims. Linking words such as “Therefore” and “However” are used, but the relationships they signal are not always logical: “However” introduces a claim that appears to support the previous point rather than contrast with it. The response also lacks developed paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages. A clearer structure—introduction, reasons, disadvantages, and conclusion—would help readers follow the argument, with each paragraph focused on one main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response attempts some topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “employment,” “self-employed,” “opportunities,” and “organization.” This gives it a minimally adequate range for discussing work. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “imperative validations,” “more crucial for for better facilities,” and “more passionate and determinant employee.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “persure,” “benefial,” and “determinant,” also reduce precision. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Aim for simpler, accurate expressions before using more formal vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations. For example, “reasons” and “benefits” would communicate the intended ideas more naturally than “validations” and “facilities” here.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes both simple sentences and an attempt at a complex sentence beginning “Although working for an organization…,” showing some effort to vary structure. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “employment is more prevalent key aspect,” where the article and sentence structure are faulty, and “Companies may need more passionate and determinant employee,” where the plural noun form and sentence construction need attention. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms in “Working for a company may required” and “fulfill every tasks.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, particularly after full stops. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns and check articles, agreement, verb forms, and plural nouns before attempting longer sentences.
