Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both questions by giving reasons for self-employment, including freedom, flexible working, and the chance to earn more, and you provide an example involving freelancers and online business owners. However, the disadvantages asked for are not explained. The comparison with company work mentions strict rules and low salary, but these are presented as reasons to leave employment rather than as drawbacks of being self-employed. Your ideas about flexibility and income are relevant, but they are repeated and not developed with clear explanation or specific support. To improve, state the disadvantages directly—for example, uncertain income, responsibility for finding clients, or lack of paid leave—and explain how these affect workers.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic, the body uses “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion is included. The example about freelancers also follows the point about flexible work. However, progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are repeated, and the paragraphs do not clearly separate the reasons from the disadvantages. For instance, the opening lists flexibility and independence, then the body returns to freedom and free time without adding much development. Some links, such as “In companies,” do not make the relationship between the comparison and the main point clear. Use one paragraph for reasons and another for disadvantages, with each paragraph centred on a distinct idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “self-employment,” “freelancers,” “online business owners,” “flexible,” and “salary,” so the reader can identify the subject and several relevant ideas. However, the range is limited and key words such as “business,” “work,” and “freedom” recur frequently. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “buisness,” “prefrences,” “finicial,” and “there own,” which make parts of the response harder to understand. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “free time work” and “powerful skills.” Build a wider set of accurate phrases for employment and its drawbacks, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic sequencing structures, but sentence forms are limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “large number of the people choose,” “people wants to self employed,” and “they have to work for their business,” where articles, agreement, or verb patterns are not controlled. Several sentences also run together with commas, as in the opening, so punctuation does not reliably mark complete ideas. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” or “which.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
