Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now an increasing number of individuals prefer to start their own business instead of working under any organisation as if provides freedom of work and it is more sustainable. However, it may be involved with some drawbacks such as it requires a huge amount of fund to start and a person need to be paitence to achieve success.

To begin, at present, a number of people intend to be self-dependent. The primary reason is that it is more convenient. When you run your own business, it provides a flexible work environment. As a result, they can maintain work life balance and enjoy their lives. For instance, it allows them spend quality time with their families or loved ones. Moreover, they can go for family vacation anytime without worrying about the leaves. Another significant reason is that, it ensures a sustainability. For example, during the Covid-19 pandamic, a substantial number of people lost their jobs and went through a difficult period. On the other hand, thoso who were entreprenuer, they carried on their business through online.

However, there are some disadvantages of being self-employed. First and foremost,it needs a large amount of funding at the initial periods. Therefore, they take loan from the banks which sometimes seems to be a burden for them especially for the middle class families. Furthermore, You have to be dilligent and paitence to be accomplished. In this case, many owners lose their confidence and quit in the middle of the business. As a consequence, they have to confront a financial crisis.

To sum up, many people choose to be self- relient because it is more flxible and safe option, whereas it has a certain limitations which are explained in the aforementioned points of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the question and maintains a clear overall position: self-employment offers flexibility and security, but involves financial and personal risks. The reasons are relevant, and the examples about family time and continuing business online during the pandemic help illustrate them. This is a solid response, though some points are more fully explained than others. In particular, the claim that self-employment is “more sustainable” or a “safe option” is not clearly distinguished from the pandemic example, which shows that some businesses adapted rather than proving self-employment is generally secure. Develop this point with a qualification or a more specific explanation, and explain more fully how patience and diligence lead to success or why owners may lose confidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and disadvantages, and a conclusion. The progression from flexibility to security, then to start-up costs and persistence, is easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or the references are unclear. For example, “it ensures a sustainability” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to, and “On the other hand” introduces the pandemic example without a clear contrast. The conclusion’s “aforementioned points of view” is also vague. Use more precise referencing and choose connectors that express the actual relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses a relevant range of vocabulary, including “flexible work environment,” “initial periods,” “financial crisis,” and “substantial number,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, noticeable spelling, word-choice, and collocation errors limit precision: “paitence,” “pandamic,” “entreprenuer,” “self-relient,” and “flxible” are misspelled, while “take loan from the banks” and “without worrying about the leaves” are unnatural or unclear. Some expressions, such as “more sustainable” and “safe option,” are broad and would benefit from more exact wording. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships; for example, say “take out a bank loan” and “take leave from work.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and complex structures, including cause-and-effect sentences and clauses beginning with “When” and “which.” Most of the message can be followed, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “as if provides freedom” lacks a clear subject and uses the wrong connector; “a person need” should have subject–verb agreement; and “it allows them spend” needs “to” before “spend.” The sentence “On the other hand, thoso who were entreprenuer, they carried on…” has an awkward duplicated subject and an incomplete relative-clause structure. Improve accuracy by checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and practise articles and infinitive patterns.
