Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, majority of the youth is focused toward business and entrepreneurship and they don't want to work for others. This mindset offers numerous benefits as well as drawbacks. In this essay, I will not only discuss the reasons why individuals thought that self-employment is indispensable in today's era but also describe about the possible disadvantages it may have.
First of all today is an era of technology in which everyone is connected through internet or several social media platforms, since they have that much resources to research about the current circumstances so they think that now they don't need to work for other companies or organizations. Moreover, IT industry is now on its peak and any individual is now able to earn in dollars on freelancing applications such as Upwork or Fiverr, while sitting at home so they preferred these facilities rather they searching for physical jobs at offices. Furthermore, most people now interested in starting their own businesses as if it will be successful it will offer them long-term financial stability and they will be job providers in the coming future rather than job seekers.
The self-employed mindset may face several hardships to follow their path. Firstly, not all the people are from stable background, some of them were poor and their parents might took loan for their children's studies and after graduation if these students opted to entrepreneurship it might harm their parents expectations as they need money from them on urgent basis. Secondly, starting own business requires huge capital which is not easy for everyone to arrange and there are also risks involved as if their business will not successful they will lost all their assets.
In conclusion, from my perspective self-employed mindset is necessary as salaries are not enough to manage all the expenses, however it is not justified that you force your parents to give you capital for that infact if you didn't afford self-busines first do job somewhere and give your parents stability. Subsequently, when you have assets and able to take risks then start your own business.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both questions and maintains a clear overall view: it links self-employment to online opportunities, potential financial independence and the chance to create jobs, then identifies financial risk and pressure on family resources as disadvantages. These are relevant reasons, and the examples of Upwork and Fiverr make the discussion more specific. However, the reasons are not equally developed: the claim that salaries are insufficient appears mainly in the conclusion, while the discussion of technology and business success would benefit from clearer explanation of how these factors lead people to choose self-employment. The disadvantages are relevant but focus heavily on start-up capital and family circumstances. More balanced development and a specific illustrative example would make the response more fully convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. The progression from online work to business ownership is generally understandable, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “Firstly” help guide the reader. This gives the response a coherent arrangement. However, some linking is mechanical, and several sentences contain too many connected ideas, making relationships less clear—for example, the opening sentence of the reasons paragraph combines technology, internet access, research and the decision not to work for companies. The conclusion also introduces a recommendation about working first that is not developed earlier. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each paragraph’s ideas more directly to the task questions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “entrepreneurship,” “freelancing applications,” “financial stability,” “capital” and “assets.” These choices help communicate the main points, and the platform examples add useful specificity. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, although some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “focused toward business,” “on its peak,” “job providers” and “self-employed mindset.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “busines,” also reduce precision. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but more accurate collocations and consistent formal vocabulary would strengthen the writing. Prefer established phrases such as “interested in starting a business” and “at its peak.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional clauses (“if it will be successful”) and a contrastive construction in the introduction (“not only … but also”). The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences harder to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “the majority of the youth is,” “most people now interested,” and “they will lost”; article and plural patterns in “starting own business”; and faulty conditional forms such as “if their business will not successful.” Several long sentences also need more controlled punctuation and clause structure. Practise accurate present-tense agreement, articles, and standard conditional forms—for example, “if the business is unsuccessful, they may lose their assets”—while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
