Student answer (Band 6.0)
In todays world, the industry have revolutionzed with the boom of modern-technology, people consider to work independently rather than working under the supervision of a manager in an organization or a company. Self-independance is a charm that everyone desires, but in contrast to this there are some factors which overweigh the benefits of being self-employed.
To begin with, the new generation believes in self made rules and regulations. There is lack of tolarence and patience control which made it quite challenging for them to indulge in the corporate environment. For example, office requires punctuality and time-management, which is not a piece of cake for everyone. In contrast to this, the freelancers and the owner of startups earns high amount as compared to the salaried class. The reason to shift on this mode is due to the growing economic crises. People prefer to work from home rather than spending hefty amount on fuel and daily commute. It also helps them to maintain their peace of mind by avoiding the heavy traffic.
In addition to this, there are certain drawbacks of being self-employed. I witnessed a situation when one of my collegue left his job and started his own business. He started the marketing services which includes content creation and website development. Initially, his startup made a successful impact and gave him good leads but with the innovation of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, his business crashed. In contrast to this, being the only bread earner for the whole family, it is hard for a person to afford the bills and household utilities in such situation. I presume that it depends on the luck of an individual whether his initiative will succeed or fail. The salaried individuals have a job security and confidence that their accounts will get credited on the start of the month.
In conclusion to this, I believe that people have different perspectives regarding self-employment. A part of community praises the perks of working without a boss, while others prefer the monthly salary credited in their account. In self-employment, there is a chance of business downfall and no monthly secure income which adds to its drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear overall view: people value independence and flexibility, while unstable income and business failure are disadvantages. The reasons you give—difficulty adapting to office rules, avoiding commuting costs, and economic pressures—are relevant. Your colleague’s business provides a useful example of how changing technology can threaten a self-employed person’s livelihood. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between low patience and choosing self-employment could be made clearer, and the claim that freelancers and start-up owners earn more needs qualification or support. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and show more precisely how it leads people to choose this work.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion that returns to the contrast between independence and security. Examples are generally placed alongside the points they support, which helps the reader follow the discussion. However, some linking is mechanical or imprecise. “In contrast to this” is used where the relationship is not always a direct contrast, and “In addition to this” introduces the disadvantages without a particularly clear connection. The first body paragraph also moves quickly from workplace tolerance to earnings and commuting. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main idea, with transitions that accurately express the relationship between points.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “self-employed,” “corporate environment,” “daily commute,” “job security,” and “business downfall.” These choices allow you to discuss both motivations and risks, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “self-independance is a charm,” “lack of tolarence,” “shift on this mode,” and “made a successful impact.” Spelling errors, including “revolutionzed,” “collegue,” and “tolarence,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “the appeal of independence,” “a lack of tolerance,” and “switch to self-employment,” and check spelling carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “which,” “whether,” and “while,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some sentences are well controlled, such as the final sentence contrasting business risk with a secure salary. However, there are some recurring errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “the industry have revolutionzed” needs a singular verb, while “the freelancers and the owner of startups earns” has a subject–verb agreement problem. “Office requires punctuality” also needs an article or plural form, and “his business crashed” shifts into the past within a general discussion. Review agreement and article use, and check that tense choices remain consistent within each example.
